2  Re: * (Mini) Nerd Swap Gallery of Amazingness * in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by trampycouture on: April 23, 2010 09:09:28 PM
Okay, get ready for the amazingness... when_im64 and I were both book/grammar nerds. We were paired perfectly. She really spoiled me.

First, here's a painting inspired by one of my favorite Bret Easton Ellis books, American Psycho.

How awesome is that?

Next is a totally cool "fake book" that is actually a drawer. I have some of these in my classroom (I teach 9th grade English), and my students are amazed by them. It is modeled after A History of Hogwarts, required reading for the kids in the HP novels.

Something else my students will love is this sign I plan on hanging near the board I do D.O.L. on (daily oral language). It highlights the importance of grammar!!

Speaking of grammar, she included this quirky book about grammar and an adorable bookmark (one can never have too many of those!)

And lastly, this really pretty necklace representing the job of a teacher!

Thank you so much, when_im64! You are AWESOME!

I received the most beautiful package from RougeRaven today. Be jealous:

The whole package:

A vase for a single flower:

A sandwich case that is reusable. It holds the sandwich in with velcro. I requested this!

Some awesome fabric:

And my absolute favorite:
A double sided Frida Kahlo necklace.

Thanks for being such an amazing partner, RougeRaven!

I stitched this up the night before my friend's baby shower. It's from an Aunt Martha package of alphabets.

5  Claddagh wall hanging in Needlework: Completed Projects by trampycouture on: March 21, 2010 08:31:14 AM
I used tinting to do this claddagh wall hanging. I embroidered the pattern on a tea towel, then stretched it around a canvas and stapled with a staple gun, cutting off the excess fabric. Did I mention that using a staple gun is really fun?

6  Celtic fleece. in Needlework: Completed Projects by trampycouture on: March 21, 2010 08:28:41 AM
I made the following blanket for plucky in the "Luck of the Irish" swap. I have been buying fleece blankets for cheap at Wal-Mart, and I love this medium! It's something cool to embroider on besides tote bags.

The colors don't photograph well, but I embroidered gold Celtic knots on each corner of the blanket.

Here are the goods:

A little bag, a to-do list, a little ducky, a mini hanging plate, a claddaugh jewelry box, some magnets and a beautiful shamrock necklace!
Up close:

The necklace is my favorite! Thanks, plucky! I can't wait until you receive.

Okay people: Get ready for some awesomeness!
I received the BEST package from HeyVern!

I don't have a dachshund yet because I live in an apt. complex, but when we build a house this year I'll get one.. or two!

All together:

It's a warm fleece blanket with a hilarious doxie inspired by one of my wist items, a polymer pic frame, a pendant, coasters and a bookmark.

Upclose of coasters

Isn't this so funny?!

Heyvern is so talented with polymer clay! I LOVE this! She said I can save it to put a pic of my future doxie! I can't wait!!

I couldn't have asked for a better partner.

10  More Dr. Seuss fun! in Needlework: Completed Projects by trampycouture on: December 22, 2009 12:31:40 PM
My friend hosted a Dr. Seuss birthday party for her 1-year old. I really enjoyed making this Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirt for him. The hair was the most fun because I used variegated thread.
