21  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Circus Couture-ish tribal fusion halloween costume!! on: June 08, 2008 06:22:06 PM
The lime green and veil is great! I like everything except for the vertical stripes on the bottom of the skirt. Maybe it's cause there are too many 90 degree angles. Can you make a diagonal striped skirt instead? Or draw up one side of it so it looks diagonal? I think that will give it more edge. Sorry if I'm sounding persnickety. I think your costume is cool and it has potential to be even better!
22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Prom bubble dress on: May 31, 2008 07:26:50 AM
Thanks for your kind comments!
The pics don't show that well, but it is emerald green, not black. It's high silk, which just doesn't seem photograph well!
And the elephant necklace is a pin I got at a garage sale for a buck.
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Prom bubble dress NOW WITH ACTION SHOTS (img heavy) on: May 24, 2008 10:23:12 AM
Hi everyone! I love all the prom dresses that you put up so I decided to craft my own. Only I can't because I have no sewing/pattern making skills. I designed it and my wonderful mother made the pattern and put it together.

Sorry, the pics are kind of blurry because I used auto timer and had to run to the camera.
Thanks for looking and happy prom Smiley

my date's tie was made with the same fabric as the dress.
24  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Purple Mash Potatoes on: April 14, 2008 08:30:37 PM
Yeah, I like them because they're purdy Wink I think the nutritional content is similar. You must eat the peel to get all your nutrients though. Otherwise, it's just starch. It doesn't stain your hands, but it stains your fingernails a little bit when you peel them.

If you want to buy them, this is a good time of year (early spring). Try your local farmer's market or Latino foods store.
25  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Purple Mash Potatoes on: April 14, 2008 07:47:27 PM

It's just like making regular mash potatoes!
1. Boil purple potatoes. Peel and mash.
2. Carmelize some onions in oil. Chop up some fresh dill.
3. While onion is carmelizing, mix milk into the potatoes to the consistency you like. You can add a dab of butter too.
4. Mix potatoes, onions and dill. Salt and pepper to taste.

I'm glad everyone likes it and found the tutorial helpful:)
I was struggling to pick a major, bio or art, but I ended up choosing art because I can't do chemistry.

I didn't make the cake, my parents bought it. It is a strawberry mousse cake with a thin layer of cake-cake wrapped around it on the side.
28  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: "classy" finger foods? on: December 29, 2007 06:39:19 PM
Deviled eggs! Here's my never fail recipe:
1) Put room temperature eggs in a pot of water and bring it to a boil. Turn it off as soon as it boils. Let the eggs sit for 9 minutes. Take them out and dump in ice water until cool enough to peel. Peel your eggs and cut them in half lengthwise.
2)Take out the yolks with a spoon and put in a bowl with mayonnaise, olive oil, parsley, pepper, salt, onions, and diced cooked shrimp. Guesstimate all the ingredients, but make the consistency like cream cheese.
3)Spoon back into egg whites and top with some parsley.

Good luck! I love finger foods, especially at tea parties.
29  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: My photography final is DONE! 12 pics inside! on: December 11, 2007 03:13:41 PM
I love your concept! The printing is very well done. The only critique I have is the photo of the middle-age woman's eye. It is not as sharp as the other ones are.
I hate accidentally over-washing the fiber based paper and then it breaks apart.
30  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Vegan cupcakes (img heavy) on: November 14, 2007 03:12:17 PM
I love all of them! They look irresistible This will definitely change people's minds about vegan food being boring. My only criticism is the cappuccino one. It probably tastes good, but the small lump of brown on brown frosting looks unappetizing. You should make the frosting cover more of the cupcake and maybe use a round tip instead of star.
