1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Poncho!!!!! on: August 14, 2004 06:16:51 AM
This is the first extensive project I've ever made.  I saw a picture of a poncho and hood in Delias's magazine and I love how it looked so I decided to make one of my own.  Here's some pics:

The hood looks better down than up because it's kinda big.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help...Fishtail stitch II??? on: July 08, 2004 01:15:10 PM
I'm designing a poncho for myself.  I'm basing it of Delia's Lulu poncho...it's the same stitch.  I found the directions for the stitch in a very, very old book of my mother's but the abbreviations used are confusing and there isn't a key.  Can anyone help.  Here's the directions:

Multiple of 10
Row 1: Wrn to m 1, k 3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, m 1, k1
Row 2 and alt rows: P
Row 3: K 1, m 1, k2, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k 2, m 1, k 2
Row 5: K 2, m 1, k 1, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k 1, m 1, k 3
Row 7: K 3, m 1, sl 1, k2tog, psso, m1, k 4

My real problem understanding is the "Wrn to m 1" part and the "m 1" itself.  Usually m 1 means the marker or to "make one" but I don't understand.  the design also has holes in it and I don't see in the pattern where they would come from.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.
Here's a pic
It's the top stitch
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first pattern I created on: June 27, 2004 07:49:20 AM
I want to share this fun purse.  It's the first thing I made completely on my own.  I based its shape off a purse I already have but I created the pattern by myself.  I'm so proud!!  Hehe.  Here's a pic
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help...it curls on: June 15, 2004 08:20:19 AM
Okay I made a poncho and i was planning on using garter stitch on the last few rows so that the bottom wouldn't curl.  But due to lack of yarn I only got maybe three rows of garter stitch at the bottom and it still curls.  It's finished now but does anyone know of something to do to stop the curling now that I've already finished it?Huh
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Left Raised Increase?????? on: April 14, 2004 10:05:21 AM
I started the Honeymoon Cami from Knitty.com and I'm at the point where I need to do a "left raised increase."  The directions are possibly the most obscure thing I have ever seen in my life.  I found something similar (I think) to the stitch that I'm going to try, but does anyone know what the author's talking about???

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Calling All Knitters on: March 10, 2004 12:55:33 PM
:DWell I don't know about some of you senior knitters but my hands are getting tired.  So I thought I would do something else that involves knitting.  I'm introducing the Knitten Guild.  No it's not a club.  I'm compiling patterns, pictures, links and anything else into one site that will be beneficial to all.  But I need your help. I'm asking for any previously done items (pictures), your own patterns, patterns you've used (with websites, please no patterns from books) with any alterations, information about yourself (if you like), your comments on patterns or what you've done.  Pretty much anything.  Recommendations to books, websites, yarn stores, etc.  It's up to you.  If you have anything you'd like to include visit www.geocities.com/knittenguild for contact information.  It's all up to you creative knitters. Cool
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn Overs vs. Make One Increase on: March 10, 2004 10:15:25 AM
I made a beanie recently and I followed the instructions in Stitch n' Bitch and I got holes.  I used the make one increase instructions and followed them but my friends said I did a yarn over.  I don't know the difference and how can I not get holes while increasing?
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitted Slippers on: March 10, 2004 09:53:57 AM
Has anyone found any really good slipper patterns.  I'm thinking of knitting myself some to go with those cold, college dorm room floors.  Any ideas?? Wink
