11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / HELP! - Add a second color to a completed item? on: November 15, 2005 10:10:55 AM
So I have finally finished my very first knitted thing (but I am a cheater because I used the knifty knitter but you will all be proud to know that it has just inspoired me to learn to knit!)!
It is a fantastic and wonderful warm scarf that will be a christmas gift for my boyfriend.
But here is the problem- I made it all black because I figured he would like that. Well just recently he has managed to mangle all my plans by saying foolish things like "you know how you wanted to make me a scarf- well it would be really cool if it were black AND red."
Now- I understand that i should tell him to knit his own damn scarf if he is going to be so particular about it...
but! i would like for him to really love this scarf.
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / there must be a better way... on: November 04, 2005 02:08:38 PM
It always takes me hours to find the ends on the ball of yarn. I always thought one was supposed to be in the end and the other should be on the outside somewhere. is there a better way to find these suckers before I destroy my yarn and go insane?!

(I am obviously new to knitting)
13  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / GENERIC STOCKING STUFFER THREAD! on: November 02, 2005 08:05:10 PM
I just realized that it would also be nice to creat some homemade stocking stiffers OR- I really want to make these http://www.notmartha.org/tomake/tinypinata.html and hang them on the tree. So far all I can come up with is shrinky dink or felted keychains...

Ideas Please!
14  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / A whole new twist on the boyfriend questions! on: November 02, 2005 08:00:52 PM
This year since we are both in school and thus absolutely broke we have decided to make our own gifts!. I am having very little trouble coming up with anything for him but he keeps asking me to give him ideas!.
I forgot that he is not as crafty as me. He should however be just as creative since he is an art student.
I think he is very capable and so far have asked for some nice framed photos for my house but here is the question:

Oh my!
I am looking for really simple crafts with very few tools involved- just household or cheap things since buying a lot of craft stuff to make cheap gifts defeats out whole purpose.

A little about me- I just moved out and the house still isnt really homeish yet. And I like nearly anything- specially if he makes it.

A little about Him- he is an art student, likes to collage and has terrible taste in nearly everything (opposites attract, hey!). He is also very close to being a craft virgin and rolls his eyes at how much I love to craft.

My secret plan is to get him to like crafting *laughs evilly!*

15  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Would this work? on: October 31, 2005 07:15:54 PM
I am absolutly new to quilting! My mom and grandma have been able to give me a few tips but I am wondering if this is a plausible idea.
I wanted to make one of those quults out of old sheets from cartoons for my bf for christmas but i have been haveing a tough time finding enough old sheets!. i was wondering it i took a flat sheet as a base and did iron on images and then quilted it to the bottom sheet would that work? this would be a sort of "lazy girl quilting" but has anyone tried this or does anyone even think it will work?
