1  Re: Sweat Shoppe Swap Gallery - Round 8 in The Swap Gallery by sneeg on: April 09, 2007 09:57:50 AM
I received all of my items a while ago - last week was a total bear, so I am just getting around to posting . . .

Let's see . . .
There is the perfectly sized swap journal from Mlsocci74 which has already helped me organize all my craftster PM's
The fabulous passport cover from foolily, which I am planning on using in six weeks!
The cute owl from SewingLori, which, despite being called a pincushion is currently being used by my (18 month old) son as a ball.
The adorable mini journal from PenGwend, which I'm planning to use to write haiku, but haven't actually started.
And the wonderful eye pillow from stacysews, though it is also getting more use as a ball/thing to throw off the bed because it makes a cool noise when it hits the floor.

Thank you all, everything is wonderful!

[the picture isn't showing up because my site is down. .. i hope to get that fixed soon!]

catpants did an amazing necklace reconstruction for me!  Here is the original - there isn't anything wrong with the necklace, but I had a nicer string of pearls and never wore this one, which was a gift:

We discussed what I was hoping for and she made me this amazing floating bead necklace - I even have a good excuse to wear it next week!

And then she surprised me with this reconstruction of the remaining beads, which I also absolutely love:

Thanks so much, catpants!

I did a personal swap with gavagai and she sent me this fantastic needle roll as well as some treats.  I love it.  The tabs at the top are so I can hang it on my wall, which will happen as soon as I get my new desk and rearrange my space.

Thanks, gavagai!

I got a really fantastic package from GatsyGirl a few days ago.  It would be a gigantic post to put in images of everything - I was certainly spoiled!

The package included a whole stack of fun notecards and some gorgeous vintage iron-on transfers.  I love all the flower-based patterns.  Just going through it I thought of far more projects that I want to do than I will ever get around to actually completing . . .

Here is one of my favorite examples along with everything else that was included (and some mixed seed packets, which look really fun!)

Thanks, GatsbyGirl!

5  Re: Sweat Shoppe Swap Round 8! closes March 14th in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by sneeg on: March 06, 2007 06:23:28 PM
Oh, yea, I have time to join in again.  I am being a very Responsible Adult and only doing 5 items this time, though the selection looks amazing so far and it is *very* tempting to do 10.

In any case, I will be offering a handsewn purple pansy pin.  They are made from salvaged silk (old kimono and dresses).  They are about 3 inches across and great to be pinned on a little bag or on a spring hat.  Here is the picture of the 5 so far, the buttons are not sewn on, yet, as I'll let people choose which button they prefer.

I will try to match people up with their prefered pansy.  They are "numbered" clockwise:
5        2
   4   3

6  anatomical hip bones on underpants in Needlework: Completed Projects by sneeg on: February 19, 2007 08:44:11 PM
I tend to not cross-post things from swaps, but I just like this one so much I wanted to also post it here.  For the fancy knickers swap, I embroidered the hip bones on the back of a pair of boyshorts.  The embroidery is merely OK (I ended up having the pattern on tissue paper and tried to keep it in place while stitching through it) - it is a bit off-center and tilted and the stitching is uneven with some little gaps.

But with all that, I still really like it.  Yup.

It turns out I am extra lucky as I also received my panties from n9i5a a few days ago - also awesome!

Here is a picture of all three together - the tie-dyed ones were white when i sent them - they now also have little rhinestones on them as well.  Very fun!

Here is the back of the night-sky themed ones.  I think the swirly cloud detail is great!

And my favorite ones are the silhouets of plants - probably inspired by one of the fabrics on my wist - I love them!

Thanks so much, n9i5a!

8  Re: Sweat shoppe swap round 8? in New Swap Theme Ideas by sneeg on: February 18, 2007 09:13:56 AM
oh, yea, i think i have the time to join this round!

i was thinking of offering purple peony pins.  they are hand sewn from silk scraps.  they will all be purple, but with different materials. this is my prototype, the picture is about real-life size:

i'm going to tweak it a bit so the center is a little smaller.

i was just wondering what sort of interest there is for them so i know if i should sign up for 5 or 10.

Lucky me, I received from varandra a few days ago.  After telling her I didn't really go for girly stuff, I promptly sent her some peach/pink underwear since that was the only interesting color at the store.  Hrm.  But she did right by me and did a GREAT science-themed set for me.

First, she spraypainted some stars and then embroidered a rocket ship with some sequins in the rocket exhaust.  Awesome.

The second pair are evolution-based with the ascent/descent of man on the back.  I'm very impressed with her drawing-on-knit fabric skills as the technique I ended up using to transfer [something] to her pair drove me insane.  We can discuss that when she receives.

And the third pair are embroidered moon jellyfish.  I *love* this pair.

Thanks so much, varandra, I hope yours arrive soon!

I received the package from cheshyre a few days ago, but just now have time to post.  She sent me this lovely purse (perfect for my current knitting project), two headbands which fit perfectly, and a surprise from my wist - the venn diagram necklace.  WOW!  I'm super impressed by the quality of all of it and will get good use out of it all.  Thanks, cheshyre!
