2  Re: Felt Mascot or Little Stuffie Swap R2 -- Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by katies1969 on: March 22, 2007 05:13:56 AM
Okay - do you all remember wayyyyy back when this swap began I was bragging that I got LaughingSquid as my swap partner?  WELLLLL  let me tell you - she out did anything I could have ever imagined!

Behold - the cooolest stuffie EVAAAAAAA!!!!

Here is all of the stuff

His name is super squidge the wonder guinea pig (I have two piggies at home here so they needed a superhero) who according to the amazing comic has an arch enemy who wants to do him in.  The evil kitty sends him a loaded flower and candy and when it arrives . . . it makes him sneeze and WHAMMMOOO . .. . he . . ..

He turns inside out!  HOW FREAKIN COOL IS THAT?  You should see the little tiny detail - I'm tellin you it's an anatomy lesson!! I can't imagine the time and sharp scissors it took to cut out those tiny bones!!!

I am in awe!  His tummy has a little zipper to close him up until you want to unzip the coolness that is his little skully self!

Aislinn with the super pig!

Once again I have to brag I got the most amazing swapping partner!  THANK YOU Thank you THANK YOU!!!!!  katie

HOLY FREAKING AWESOME BATMAN!!!!! Grapes!  what could be cooler than grapes?Huh besides maybe skulls?!  that is the sweetest little grapey smile evaaaaa!!  (apparently I am a little partial to grapes Picture of big tattoo on foot!  Love grapes yup!

Having big swap anxiety right now since my stuffie is so weird and already in the mail.  It's not your garden variety little cute deer who will sniff crocus (how precious was that?)  Okay I threw in a safe "bonus" friend for said unusual creature but the actual STUFFIE is all out freaky!!  Made felt by knitting wool into a big sheet - washing to shrink - cutting out pattern - sewing - stuffing and then dying a bizarro shade of (secret color) and then embroidering the whole lot!!!! Seriously hope laughingsquid likes it (my pitbull sure did  - maybe thought it was a weird sheep)!  okay enough languishing over what is in the mail now Cheesy  great job all!  Katie

4  Re: Newbies Only Swap Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by katies1969 on: February 15, 2007 05:42:38 PM

made the man his valentine - had to be fully functioning - no mushy stuff here sort of thing - so he got coasters for his glass topped desk.  So as not to spill on Otep and Bukowsky and Maynard James Keenan's pictures he needed coasters for his STARBUCKS - or TAZO green tea (sorry Ray)

I have to find another swap - before I loose my momentum.  The adult one sounded fun - as do about 5 others -

I can't ever get the spell check to work on this site - I'm on an OLD mac and nothing works quite right.  There's a screaming fast laptop upstairs on said shrine of all things pagan but I'm too lazy to go up there right now.  Wish I had the spell checker sometimes since it's embarrassing as an English major (literature NOT GRAMMAR) to suck at spelling!  well the chickens need bedding down as tomorrow's a school night - night all Katie

5  The Princess Bride coasters in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by katies1969 on: February 15, 2007 05:33:15 PM
Made some coasters for the man's valentines present.  No mushy stuff - just fully functioning needed items!  Just simple white tiles (redoing the bathroom helps to have supplies on hand) glass ovals (from the walmart floral section) glued to the four corners with epoxy e6000 or something like that and then TPB images and words decoupaged to the top with basic aileens craft glue.  We discovered that 3 layers of glue still made the coffee cup (hot) stick to the coaster and lift it with the cup - so I am using an oil based poly over all of that right now to eliminate that stickiness factor.  Oooh the fumes at my house - huffers are lining up around the block to get to my house!  what is amazing is that the man actually liked them - a first!  Katie

Okay, allow me to try this again - for some reason what I typed went into freeze-up cyperland!

WOW - do I have the most awesome swap partner ever! - she totally went above and beyond and made my day (and more!)

Look at the motherload I got here!  And all lovingly packaged and individually wrapped with a cute little comment on each!

I got the coolest T-shirt which ironically enough I am doing the skull on a pair of jeans right now!

Guinea pig beds - which they both JUST LOVE already!

A tissue/hand sanitzer purse (how did you know I am a freak about that?)

The cutest pin cushion ever (see daughter has already stolen)!

A Shakespeare pin that I am putting on my coat right NOW!

AND memorabilia of a state that I can only dream about right now Cheesy

Okay - I tell you this was WAY better than my birthday!  I am hooked - I already knew that I love making stuff for other people - but GETTING stuff - MADE just for me by someone else is the best feeling!  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!  Katie

7  Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by katies1969 on: January 12, 2007 12:36:56 PM

behold - the rainbow ipod cozy.  I have had this skein of koigu ppm and for the life of me have not been able to make anything out of it I like.  I have discovered that I am just not a thin yarn lady no matter how pretty it is - so doubled it's all good.  Add a little strap and we're good to go! Rock on! Katie

8  Re: Come one come all post your new tattoo IDEAS! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by katies1969 on: January 09, 2007 02:08:48 PM
I am not sure if this is going to work but this is the picture of the top of my foot and the side.  Just got done jumping rope so my foot is all "veiny" but that's my pretty pretty tat that I can't wait to be able to wear sandals.  Ooooh maybe I can figure out how to make some really slinky strappy sandals.  Right like I have time to do MORE crafts than the million things I already have going . . .
Anywho, enjoy and thanks for lookin at my foot - and be glad you don't have to smell it right now!!!!!!

9  Re: Knitty's Tubey Knitalong :D in Knitalongs by katies1969 on: January 17, 2006 07:32:59 AM
I finally have all my yarn for the Tubey - even though I started without having it all (bad - very bad).  Unfortunately Shadow from Knitpicks comes in 440 yard skeins and I need to use 4 strands put together to get gauge - and then do that 3 times.  I need to figure out how to make a yarn swift since 60 bucks just to untwist yarn seems outrageous to me - ALTHOUGH I spent 3 hours unwinding the 4 skeins by hand!   Here's a picture of what I have done so far - I have the back done and the join just begun on very short circulars
I don't know if this picture will work since I am on a quirky Mac - but if it doesn't it's done in Shadow 100% merino (vineyard) from Knitpicks.

YEAH I got the picture to work!!!!!  The red is my waste yarn for the other sleeve.
