1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Moogle Cross Stitch - yay for pixel art cross stitch! on: April 20, 2009 12:10:52 PM
I've been wanting to do little video game cross stitches for - well... for as long as i can remember Smiley

who doesn't want a moogle framed on their desk with them?

I suppose those who don't know what a moogle is wouldn't care too much but who's counting them? Wink

I still have to add a little backing so he'll sit up straight on a desk... or I suppose you could hang him on the wall too. Smiley

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Seahorse Vintage hanky on: April 20, 2009 12:03:41 PM
I'm pretty much in love with this thing... love the hanky, love the way the embroidery turned out. It was difficult to embroider because the fabric was so fragile but I really do like it.

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Skull and Crossbones Baby Onesies on: April 20, 2009 12:00:02 PM
Friends keep having babies so i keep making baby things Smiley

The girl was inspired by my a tattoo the new mom has, and a made a boy one just for fun Smiley Do you guys think the eyes and nose should be outlined or no?

Also i have kindof a silly question... is this applique? I have no idea... it's just a process I started using to create these for friends, but it seems like it could be called applique, I'm just not sure of the definition...

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / luggage tags/handle wraps -or- "oh THERE's my bag!" on: April 10, 2009 04:27:16 PM
I made these for my family and our upcoming trip to hawaii... just a fun way to be able to identify your luggage among the 8 billion other bags on the carousel. I saw something like this for sale in a luggage store and thought it would be easy to whip up.

AND they are reversible! so that's fun... Smiley

5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / tag design for crafty products on: April 10, 2009 04:17:50 PM
i threw together this design really quickly after I got my very first etsy order! I hadn't really thought about packaging or anything until I actually had someone order something... anyway, what do you think? Any tips or suggestions to make it better? I didn't want to be to specific in the products offered since my brain sorta wanders in and out of different craft 'specialties'.

Thanks for any comments or advice!
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Trilobite Fossil vintage hanky on: April 05, 2009 01:25:09 PM
cuz I'm a weirdo... and I hope that there are other weirdo's out there who can appreciate this Smiley
My favorite part is that the tactile feel of the embroidery stitches resembles the feel of an actual fossil... a cool unplanned effect Smiley

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Four elements hanky on: April 05, 2009 12:54:52 PM
This was done as part of an assignment for a class I'm taking in earth centered religions. I decided to embroider the four elements on a hanky to act as a sort of altar cloth.

Plus it was a good excuse for me to practice and learn more embroidery stitches! Smiley

And Air:

And the full hanky:

I'm least happy with Air and Fire... they don't seem to stand on their own with the others... I may need to add some more design elements to them...
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / from geeky crafters come geeky crafts. and baby geeks? on: March 30, 2009 12:59:21 PM

I just made this Dr. Who baby onesie for fun, to practice designs and stitches.  Smiley
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / My first project! on: March 20, 2009 10:04:17 AM
Baby elephant

baby giraffe

baby turtle

chihuahua puppy

Utah Jazz logo

I'm pretty convinced I'm not going to do anything like the Jazz logo again... at least not on a baby onesie.. but I'm pretty happy with the rest of them... the giraffe is my favorite Smiley
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / simple sash? on: February 20, 2007 03:36:21 PM
Sorry to be such a bother, but I have no experience with sewing at all... I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks and I have a dress that I like that looks something like this dress from anthropologie...

but without the yellow sash. I'd like to either make my own or find something like it... any suggestions as to how to make a simple sash like this? Do I just cut a big rectangle and sew the edges?? is it that easy? haha
