13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / i need creative bathroom storage ideas. on: June 20, 2004 02:46:56 PM
in about a month, i'm moving out of my apartment with the big huge awesome bathroom all to myself, into a smaller bathroom, shared with 2 boys. UH OH. i've gotten really spoiled about leaving girly things all over the counter & sink area, but there is really nowhere to spread out there. there is a small closet, and i have a shelf for some of my things, but i have tons of jewelery, accessories, lotions, makeup, etc that will need a home.  does anyone have creative ideas of what i can do to keep it all organized, but accessible?

i will try to post a picture of the bathroom soon, but i'm not living there yet, so it might not be for awhile.  Smiley

one more thing to note, the tan border on the bottom is not actually tape, but is part of the photo. unfortunately it was slightly too small for the plate, but i liked it too much to not use it. its just from a magazine by the way.

i did this a few years ago, and used a very similar technique to the one described above with a few minor changes.

I cut mine longer (about 2/3 of an inch) so that there were edges to tape around the back. i used basic masking tape, to keep the whole thing in place, and create full coverage. then i used a glossy spray for the whole thing to make it look almost painted, and give it more polish.

the only complaint i have is that there was some wrinkling near the corners, and i screwed it in too hard originally and ripped the area around the screws a bit. keep in mind though that this is an extrememe closeup, and they are very minor flaws that almost no one notices.

 here's mine. Smiley

18  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: help! i'm a mess. on: May 31, 2004 08:12:43 AM
i Have milk crates hanging in a spare room with all my craft stuff in them.  Once i CLEAN the area up a little, i may post a picture, for now..its not really the picture of organized. the problem is i grab things and leave them on the floor after i'm done. haha. so maybe my technique doesn't really work.

you could also glue them around the outside of a picture frame or 2 for a kid's room. Smiley (or an adult's room! Smiley hehe)

if you want to do this in a more classy way, you can get record sized frames. I know urbn.com has them, so do many other stores if you just google...I see them in record stores sometimes too.
