1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Please help me with a jump ring / split ring question. (washer jewelry) on: November 07, 2009 03:38:49 PM
I want to make earrings out of metal washers. I am always afraid of jewelry falling apart ! I would love to use split rings but in the past they seem to stay stretched out after I get them around the item I am trying to connect. I don't solder so that is not an option for regular jump rings.
If anyone has any suggestions of what to use and what size to use when making washer jewelry I would really appreciate it. An online source would be great as I live in rural area.

Thanks so much !

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / How to cover a book in old denim? on: April 27, 2007 08:21:49 PM
I want to make a denim scrapbook with a pocket on the front and back. To make it more personal I would like to use the actual jeans of the person I make the book for. I can't seem to find a tutorial on this. I don't sew but have plenty of sewers around me who could help if it was difficult. (I did sew a little many years ago) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Where can I find small wooden boxes to make doll purses? on: April 11, 2007 09:00:06 PM
I am looking for something like a cigar box type box or some small box that would make a suitable purse for a 12 inch doll.
I have a dremel so can drill holes if needed.
Any help you can give would be appreciated.

5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Best adhesive to adhere paper to acrylic? on: April 10, 2007 06:01:18 PM
I have a clear acrylic clipboard. I want to cover it with paper, I have not decided if I will use oragami rice paper or a piece of scrapbooking paper. What would be the best adhesive to use?
I have never done anything like this before so if you have any other tips I would appreciate hearing them. (especially how to stop wrinkling and bubbles  Grin

Thank You!
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Where to find these alterable shapes? on: April 10, 2007 11:12:43 AM
I am trying to find alterable items in the shape of a cowboy boot, a coffin and something appropriate for a little girly girl. I am not that handy with an exacto so would like to find them ready made so I can alter them.
It can be just a shape but I would prefer more of a book type item that has a few pages in it.
If you know where I can find all or any of these items I would appreciate you letting me know.

Thanks !
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / What is the best glitter glue/paint to use on fabric? on: February 09, 2007 03:24:35 PM
I want to add some glitter around the edges of a heart on a shirt I own. I want to use a product that will hold up well in the wash. I am not sure if I should use glitter glue or paint nor what brand to purchase. If you have any experience with this I would appreciate your response.

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Galvanized metal memo board. How do I smooth the edges? on: February 16, 2006 03:47:13 PM
I bought a piece of Galvanized Sheet Metal . ( I guess it's called sheet metal) I plan to cut it with tin snips.
It seems a bit sharp around the edges and I imagine it will be more so when I cut it.
How would I smooth the edges? I will make some for gifts and don't want someone slicing their fingers ! I thought of covering the edges in silver foil tape. (it's the same thing that stained glass window makers use but it's silver instead of copper) I just don't know if that will do the trick.

I appreciate any ideas you may have.

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Need easy ideas for covering this book. (Mini journal) on: February 14, 2006 06:42:29 PM
I bought four darling mini books (4 for a dollar !!) yesterday.
I want to make mini journals out of them. I considered decoupage . I have some pretty handmade paper I could use. However I am unsure about how to do the spine so that it won't get messed up when opening and closing the book. I have fabric also.(and stickers and magazine clippings and photos and on and on Cheesy

So far I have removed the velro that is attached to the ribbon and the velcro that is attached to the other side of the book. (where they meet up to keep it closed) Hope I am explaining this well enough. Basically what I am left with is the outside of the book and the paper inside.

I would really like to make these look nice and would appreciate any suggestions you care to give.

This is my first attempt at posting a photo. Hope I did it correctly Smiley
10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Need advice on printers on: February 14, 2006 04:00:54 PM

I want to do some things like make my own journal but my printer really doesn't cut it.
I can't spend a lot of money but would really be interested in your suggestions as to what printer to buy when I can afford a new one. If it's more than I can handle right now I will save for one.
I see so many great items on this forum that people have made using their printers that I am envious of the results they have gotten. I am interested in being able to make things like journals, iron ons and to print nice photos.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated !

PS. My current printer is a Canon i450 which is an inkjet printer
