I'm still down.  I can host.  I have a sewing machine and a new serger if anyone wants to sew.

Nice job!  They are beautiful!  It would be bad ass to see them in some bright stripy colors.  Smiley  Do they have a good bit of stretch to them?

They are made from tennis balls.  And let me tell you, I don't recommend my method!  Cheesy  I painstakingly ripped the fuzzy fabric off of the ball to have a pattern for the fur I was using.  It took HOURS of intense effort to pull off and ended up stretching across the width so the pattern was to short and to wide, so I had to tweak it, which also took forever and wasted fabric.  Not to mention what a pain it is to get the shoestring through a tennis ball.

But, in the end, it was worth it.  I love my little severed muppet heads!

19  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / rough estimate on value of these used machines? on: July 22, 2008 12:17:36 PM
I'm really hoping someone can give me a general idea of how much these are worth.  My step-brothers' mom just passed away and they are going through her things, so along with what they said was literally 100's of skeins of yarn and various rafting supplies they're seinding me, she has an embroidery machine and a serger that I would like to buy.

The embroidery machine is a Singer Quantum XL100.

The serger is a Brother Lock 929D.

Any idea?  I search ebay and saw the Quantum for $500 and for $175.  They didn't have any of the Brother.  Any input would be greatly appreciated. Smiley

I've been looking for other people who sew.  I'm always down for a craft night, but if someone would be interested in giving me lessons, we could work out a trade.  I'm a massage therapist. I know how tight those shoulders get from sewing (or any other craft!)  Wink
