42  Cap Sleeves or 3/4? Knitted Shell. Need your opinions... in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by loisgriffinwannabe on: February 26, 2006 09:28:24 PM
Hi y'all!

I am trying to decide whether or not to have the cap sleeves (which means I would cast off now) or continue knitting and make them 3/4 length. The original pattern calls for cap sleeves, but I am just not sure. Here are pics of me in the cap sleeves (its not finished yet, I took it off the needles and put it all on scrap yarn)

So what do you think? Does it look nice? Or terrible? Should I leave as cap or keep knitting and make 3/4 Huh

Opinions would help Smiley

Thanks

43  Re: Lace shell by Michelle Ciccariello, anyone? in Knitalongs by loisgriffinwannabe on: February 25, 2006 11:26:47 PM
I am so glad I found this thread! I started knitting this for the Knitting Olympics, and I made some progress. Tongue Here are some pics. I am using the recommended yarn (Elann Endless Summer Connemara, in Naples Teal) like dialectic material is.

I made the mistake of not following this part:
When you have increased enough times so that the stitches in queue equal another repeat of the stitch pattern, remove the extra markers and knit the sts in lace pattern. Repeat this cycle.

Oh well. I am so close to the part where I will be doing stockinette. I decided to take out the middle lace panel and the bottom lace... just because I don't like them for me. So its just straight stockinette after my boobs!

And I am taking the neckline down into sexy territory too.  Wink

I know, I am not finished. But, I am loving this project so much, I had to share an update photo. So here we go:

Isn't she beautiful? Did you see ma grande erreur? I didn't read the directions closely enough, and thought if I wasn't using markers, that I was to purl all the stitches between the KTBL sts... oh well. It still looks good!

withoutfear- I really love your yarn- what are you using?

flyersfan- no puffy sleeves for me either- <shudders> but I am making mine longsleeved, and my friend Nic is making one too, its her first top down raglan, so I am going to help her figure it out... but I am sure once she gets going she ewill see she doesn't really need me  Wink

I am using Cascade Eco+ in Berry, 100% Peruvian Wool. One skein is enough because its 478 yds per skein. I got it for a really good price on ebay.

This is actually a great representation of the color!

49  Re: Vogue Knitting Holiday 2005 issue: worth it? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by loisgriffinwannabe on: February 11, 2006 11:46:51 PM
I *personally* don't think its worth it- the patterns were not too great that issue. Lots of stuff that you see and go, oh, I think that is pretty nice, but not really awesome- like "Oh I need to knit that, you know?

I only saw one thing I wanted to make, but it was a whole cardigan on super small needles with fingering weight mohair yarn... yikes! Oh here is a pic:

This was the only thing I wanted to make and didn't... who needs the headache. However, if you like this or any other pics you see from this issue, buy it!

Help!

I can't seem to get the pattern right... I end up with too many stitches when I get to the last part. If I "fudge it" I can make it work out right, but I am worried that will burn me in the end...

I am having so much trouble with my second rep of section 2.. I got the first one down perfectly, so I thought repeating it would be a snap! But I always have too many stitches in the last section of the row. Maybe I should have used stitch markers.

Does anyone have any advice for me? I have no idea if I am f'ing this up big time or not.

Here is a pic:

I hope that helps... please help me!!!!
