I am soooo close to finished! I picked this up again after finishing the myriad of birthday gifts I had to knit and crochet.

I took pics of it blocking, but I must have deleted them off my camera by mistake  Embarrassed

I only need to attach and finish one strap and the button clasp!

Then its all lining from here on in!

See you all with more pics in a day or so!!

This pattern is fun, challenging, but totally doable.

It is my first time using: Magic Loop, Magic Cast-On (which I used instead of the Turkish Cast on, which I found too gapey) using fingering weight yarn, and my first socks for me!  I taught it all to myself in one night! You can do it!

You can buy the pattern here:
Badcaul and it is totally worth it, because I am already dreaming about my next pair.  Cool

Here is a pic of my progress so far:

Lovely ain't she? Started June 4th. She is just buzzing along!

Edit: Just realized that the first pair of knit socks I ever saw were Badcaul, on Yahaira's blog! Here is the link that inspired me all that time ago! Even the colorway is similar!!!

15  Re: Circular Shrug / Vest - Scale Model - TUTORIAL in Knitting: Completed Projects by loisgriffinwannabe on: May 25, 2006 12:06:25 PM
Here's another one to add to the fold:

I used Knitpicks Getaway in "Hiking" and US11/8mm needles. I made sleeves in the round that are elbow length, and threaded a pink ribbon through to tie a bow in front! It was really easy to adapt to baby size!

thanks so much Chloe!

I am actually knitting the handbag from the yarn of the finished tote  Tongue I finished the tote and realized I would never cart around a tote, and for me the handbag was big enough. Sigh. So I am knitting the handbag.

17  Re: My birdy Isabeau in Knitting: Completed Projects by loisgriffinwannabe on: May 18, 2006 12:52:25 PM
ChloeZ, that looks gorgeous!!! I love the bird details, and the color! I am in the middle of making the handbag right now (I was making the tote, but I realized it is really too big for me to use, don't do what i did, check the dimensions first  Roll Eyes)

Anyhow, I thought I can answer this question too, since my Isabeau purse was stiff:
How did you get it to look so nice and stiff?  If you don't mind me asking, what yarn did you use?  And did you use smaller needles that what it called for?

I used Cascade 220, in Color #9420 (Dark Teal) and the reccomended needle size (5mm- US8) and I lined it with interfacing (I think that is what the stiff fabric is called, no?) and with two fabrics- because I wanted it to show a certain way throught the lace pattern. (old movie fabric through the lace pattern, hot pink for the interior) So, it was sewn on with the interfacing sandwiched between the two fabrics, so that it wouldn't show.

I also placed a bit of plastic canvas (the kind used for cross stitch) in the bottom of the purse. 1 sheet was $1.09 at Dressew, and I only used a  bit of it. Very cheap!

It stands up on its own, which I like. The last pic is the most accurate color representation:

By the way, thanks for saying this Syl!
About the tote, the lovely Emmie started a KAL for it in the knitalongs section.

18  Re: Kirsten Dunst Pithy hat knitalong anyone? in Knitalongs by loisgriffinwannabe on: May 15, 2006 12:58:52 AM
I made this for Raindrops in a swap:

I'm in! Anyone have yarn suggestions to make a lighter weight hat I can still wear in the summer?

I used almost two skeins of Cantata Cotton Crepe DK, Colour #9893, two needles -US 4, 16" circular for the ribbing, US 9, 16" circular for the rest of the hat. It worked really well, and since it is 100% mercerized cotton, it should work for warmer weather.

Hi Emmie!  Nice work!  Smiley  Steph

Thanks Steph!!!

Since it seems to be just lil ole me all by her lonesome (sigh...)  Sad I will let you know how far I have come since I started this purse 2 days ago:

Isn't that kewl? It's a really fast knit! I am going to line it with satin that is slightly lighter in shade than the yarn. Oh yumm!!!  Kiss

I'm very excited about the tote!  I saw your previous Isabeau KAL and fell in love and downloaded the pattern!

I love that!

Here is how far along I am:

By the way, the yarn I suggested comes in alot of pretty colors. Very pretty but muted, like a purse should be!  Kiss
