I have to lock my cat in the bathroom if I'm pinning fabric.  I'll be busy cutting away, look up, and see him pulling the pins out!  With his teeth!  Sheesh

I get a lot of my fabric from the Fashion Fabrics Club, they're great!  Always tons of great quality fabric on sale.

I made a cat tree for my cat with my Dad.  It's about 5' high, 3 levels, with a scratching post at the front.  I think materials cost $60 max.  Some tips to make it cheaper:

You can buy carpet remnants in all carpet stores, or if you're brave you can raid their trash.

If you live near woods, go look for deadfall to serve as the posts

There's also a toy out there called a "panic mouse" or something like that.  It features a battery powered tail that whips around randomly.  You can leave it on when your not home, or when you are home and don't want to play.  I've seen cats go crazy over it...
