1  Re: Love Always, Charlie Swap 2 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by kitschycoup on: October 11, 2007 06:48:36 AM
Hello again Charlies! It's been a looooong time (1 year?) - I hope everyone is supergroovy cool.
I have a great Charlie update! A few weeks ago my dear Charlie (the lovely Parisgirl) sent me a surprise package!! It is a set of 8 coasters she made from Anne Taintor cocktail napkins!

Why did she send them? Because she is super sweet...
(I like this one the bestist!)

They are really cool - I believe that she made them from tiles covered with cocktail napkins then coated with gloss and embellished with tiny beads.
NIFTY & just in time for Christmas!

(If you go to my Flickr page you can look at the bigger sized pictures and see the really cool details better)

Anyway, I just had to update here because I think that it says a lot about the whole Charlie experience and how great it was for most of us.
I would love to see another Charlie round start! Would anyone else be up for that/ know anyone else that would be up for that? I don't know if I qualify for organizer status, but I would be up for it (I'll look into it if anyone chimes in about interest)

Big Wallflower hugs to all!

2  Re: Anyone interested in a Tute for a Sally NMBC costume? in Halloween Costumes by kitschycoup on: August 13, 2006 03:12:37 PM
Sorry for the delay folks. I have not been on Craftster lately. Darned life! Why must it get in the way of Craftster?
Anyway my Sally looked like this

It was very simple to do - like cake.
I started with a vintage slip. A really plain one because I could not bring myself to ruin a fancy one. It is a good idea to start with one that is a little large on you.
Starting with a few screen shots from the film I collected pieces of fabric as close to the original patterns and colors as I could find.
I put the slip on a dress form and just using "draping" techniques I then pinned the scraps to the slip in the arrangement/ shapes they were in on Sally's dress.
After I got everything pinned I sewed all of the scraps onto the dress with embroidery floss in black - using all of the 6 strands and being very UNcareful with the stitching - looking at the pictures as I went along.
Be sure to keep trying the slip on as you go to make sure you have not pulled the slip too much in some of your stitches. You can pull the material quite a bit and then make the slip too small to fit you (Thus the reason for getting a slightly bigger slip).
For the arms and legs (since hers are kinda blue) I took two pairs of white tights and sprayed them with aqua colored fabric spray paint and watered them immediately so the color would be as light as possible. Then I cut the crotch & toes out of one pair so I could fit them over my head and hands. (Head in crotch hole- hands in feet)
I took both pairs of tights and sewed stitch lines on them with black embroidery floss  again, looking at the picture of Sally as I went along to make them similar to the lines in her skin.
It's just that easy. Remember - she's like a rag doll -so the perfection is in the imperfection, but keep looking at the pictures so you don't get off track.
The wig was a really carpy one I bought from the D-ney store and it was awful. It was their "Sally" wig and it looked like Raggedy Ann, that's why I have my Jack hat that I made on with it in the pix.
If there are any questions - please feel free to ask. If I did a carp job describing it - let me know too.  Wink

Smoker is the grooviest swap partner! Please forgive me for my delay in posting pictures - I have been without a computer for an entire week. (OH NO HEAVY - techno fear...)
I am going to make an attempt to link the photos of all of my recieved goodness ...

Painted and decopaged cigar box. There are many cool details on this- including marble "legs" on the bottom wiht little Brit flags underneath.

(p)Rik 3D magnet - he has good company on my fridge

Absolutely fantastic SPG stuffed toy. (My daughter has hijacked him)You know he only has the carrots so he can stick them in his trousers to impress the girls.
Thanks so much for the great craftiness Smoker! I love all of my things-truly and I hope your baby will like his t shirts - good luck!  Wink

4  Anyone interested in a Tute for a Sally NMBC costume? in Halloween Costumes by kitschycoup on: June 27, 2006 08:30:23 AM
Hi all. I am so glad that I am not the only one who is worrying about Halloween in the end of June.
I was thinking about my costume from last year- which was Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and I thought there might be interest in it here more than anywhere else out there.  Wink  It was kinda easy to make and I would be willing to post a tutorial if there is any interest. I don't want to waste bandwidth if no one is interested, but I will go for it if anyone wants me to.

5  Opinions Pleeeese ? in More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions by kitschycoup on: June 06, 2006 08:12:15 AM
Ok, I am making this for a friend who is crazy for Sufjan Stevens andI am by no means an artist, so I thought the at board would be a great place to seek advice. My question is - should I put some stuff in the negative space or leaves it alone?

I kinda like the negative space effect, but I also have ideas for stuff I could put in it. What do you more experienced folks think?

Any advice or criticism would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I totally want to apologize to my partner, Lubee first - because she was TOO cool and I got my package last Friday, but have not gotten the chance to post until today. Sorry. Anyway, I got the best swap partner EVER.
She sent a totally funky fresh necklace... (Shown here on some weird old lady  Wink ) I have wanted one like this for a while and am thrilled with it!

And here is the other goodness... Two little painted tins - one for me and one for my daughter! She did her homework on me and found out that I have a daughter and made her some really cool Panic! At the Disco buttons and Fruits Basket buttons 'coz that is what KC is into right now. (P!AtD buttons are not shown because I could not get them off of her!)

There was also a tube of Wash Away Your Sins breath spray, which is powerful enough to freshen my breath, my sins are a totally different story.  Wink
There were two CDs - both with really cool decopaged covers - made from what I think is pattern paper! Clever!

Hi all! I know my partner recieved so I am going to take the liberty of posting my pix I took before I sent out so that she won't have to mess with it.  Smiley
I wanna say first though - I did clear with my partner first that my craft was not "small" and she was cool with that... I just don't know if she liked any of the stuff yet.
This is the entire pack 'o' goodies....

This is the barrel bag I made from some white "vinyl" and the CDs that my computer didn't burn right. I am really nervous/ anxious to see what she thinks of it. (& anyone else for that matter)

I will let my partner post the song list... I thought it would be readable in the picture but it is not readable.

9  Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by kitschycoup on: March 09, 2006 02:51:02 PM
Hello fellow inky crafty babes! I have been admiring the artwork here for a while and I decided to add mine in the ring - see whatcha think - coz I am currently in talks with my artist about a large piece I want done.
I want to tie this piece he did for me a few years ago in with the new piece. (I had told him I wanted Sailor Jerry meets Tim Burton and I wanted a Voodoo theme because my husbands bands name... anyway I got this one below...) For the new addition I am thinking I want a sort of vine thing with flowers of some sort - abstracted/art nouvea style - to run from this piece, (which is over my heart),
...over my shoulder and down the side of my back. I have been having a really tough time choosing _just_ the right floral. UGH! It is driving me crazy because my husband paid him to do the work and gave me a "certificate" as my Christmas present ... so I have been sitting on this since December. Must.... get ... marked!!
By the way LolaCaracola-  I absolutely adore the chrysanthemums (sp?)! That is sooo cool. Very nice details.
Any opinions or advice re: choosing a floral or way to tie the two together would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Babes!
