it does feel good to be a gangsta...

You look fabu in your hat. I wish I could wear something like that (I have huge hair that wouldn't fit neatly under such a cute little cap). Do you think it could be made with a thin chinstrap for those of us who don't have cute little noggins?

sure, i don't see why not... it would actually look pretty cute, with i-cords grafted on or something(however you graft? and however you make i-cords?)... and you'd definately have to have pom-poms on the ends i think Wink definately...

grandmas pattern pamphlets are a great idea! brilliant!!! i will have to look for some now!

36  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / some sweet armwarmers, and a coupla scarves... on: November 08, 2004 10:09:59 AM
i went crazy taking pictures this morning, and decided to share these projects with everyone.

these armwarmers i didn't use a pattern for, i kind just made it up as i went along, i could maybe attempt writing one out if anyone really wants it.

other than that here they are...

weee! knitting is sexy Kiss

a close-up:

there's about an inch of ribbing (knit 2, purl 2) around the top and bottom, it blends into the cable kinda, wierdly, but yah... i think they turned out pretty sweet Grin

okay and for some scarves i made recently...

the one that looks like my neck's throwing up cotton candy, i knit with chunky snowflake yarn, using some fat needles, size 16 or 17, and love it... it's so soft and fluffy and weighs next to nothing.

the other scarf i knit with a multi-colered wool blend in a double sided stockinette stitch using the same fat needles. it's super warm and cozy, and i love it as well.

that is all.

thanks for looking Wink

aww you guys... you make me feel all warm inside Kiss

hehe... i'm glad this hat is a hit. it's such a unique style! tricky design, but it's so dang cute when it's finished.

I remember that while you're knitting it, it is a pretty puzzling looking object. Sort of like a giant bumpy bra!

... i was so confused when i was knitting it... it totally looks like a giant lumpy bra! i tried wearing it as one to make my sister laugh, before i sewed up the back seam.

also, thanks for sharing the original home of this pattern. i'm sorry to hear it didn't turn out to fit you Embarrassed but i'm sure your friend loved it!
38  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Fanny Packs??? The new styles on: November 06, 2004 03:03:19 AM
holy crap those are cool...

i too have bad vacation memories involving fanny packs, they were downright damaging to my inner fashion queen at the age of 7 i must say. but these are way hip... way to go!!!

thank you girls soooo much!!! yah i got a lot of "you look so sexy!!!" compliments at the costume party i went to... which made me feel extra good because my mobster gal pal and i where the only girls there wearing more than fishnets and vinyl underwear... not saying that there's anything wrong with fishnets and vinyl underwear Wink

but there's something to be said for classy-ness i guess.

and i will certainly continue to knit my blues away... thanks for all your support!

wow, you're beautiful in your halloween costume! you did a great job on the makeup and the hat is perfect!

just wondering, is it fairly tight to your head or kind of loose? and how comfortable is it?

well thank you princessjazz Cheesy  the hat fits my head but is not very tight at all. the pattern recommends using size 8 needles, but if i do it again i might use 6's or 7's, or maybe a different yarn so it's a little snugger... but other than that it's really comfortable, keeps my ears warm too!

ALSO... that website this pattern is from is really truly lovely... i was just reading on it that they are looking for volunteers to knit caps like this one for women undergoing chemotherapy... i think that's really awesome, they have patterns for children too... the main page with donation information is here if anyone's interested---> http://www.headhuggers.org/default.htm
