1  Re: *Boogie Dancing* hot recon dress (now with directions) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by GoombaLoveDisaster on: March 14, 2006 08:57:59 PM
alright, here we go.  i hope the picture works, bear with me!

it says, ironically over the chest, "small but beautiful", haha.  and i tried to touch up the image with red acrylic paint where it had cracked.

i like it a lot and it looks good on your body! hotness, lady!!! red and black is my alltime favorite color combo... and it looks like you got some sweet accesories going... woo woo!

That boogie dancing dress is so hot!! I've got a big black t-shirt that I found at Goodwill that says in big white print "Knobs and Knockers" Dublin, Ireland.  The damn thing just amuses me and this may be the perfect project for it!! Thank you for the inspiration.  Muah!

knobs and knockers you say? ummm, AWESOME! DO IT!!!

makes me think of that movie bedknobs and broomsticks... *starts to wonder if Angela Lansbury is still alive?*

3  Re: Show off your hair! And questions about hair styles! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by GoombaLoveDisaster on: January 24, 2006 11:19:25 PM
tell me depth how you did this, i need to know!!!

got bored the other night and used a crochet hook to give myself a few faux cornrows.  Worked decently well, but ended up not doing all of my hair because it was too fine.  If anyone's got thicker hair (or a much larger crochet hook), I think this might look cool to do your whole head like that.

too bad my hair's probably too short to do that, but i got friends with hair...

here's a million pics of different hairstyles i've had in the past couple years.... don't hate me if your computer crashes because of them... i just wanna share with you guys, and maybe let the healing process begin for my hopeless addiction to scissors and dye.

i'll start with my latest do'

4  frilly frock... cuz grandma's are so hot right now! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by GoombaLoveDisaster on: January 24, 2006 10:49:33 PM
this used to be an ugkly green sweatshirt from thriftown...

NOW, it's an ugkly green sweatshirt from thriftown with style...

try not to get distracted by my killer good looks.

if you wanna make out with me now i totally understand...

but if you wanna make a granny sweater all your own, this is what you do...
-cut a scoop in the front of sweatshirt or sweater, however low you wanna go
-sew on lace around the neck... which is the hardest damned thing ever if your trying to use a new serger for the first time. i kept mucking it up. blasted machine....
-if the shirts too baggy for your likey like mine was you can do what i did and lace some um lace in a corset style up the back.

back shot...

7  some sweet armwarmers, and a coupla scarves... in Knitting: Completed Projects by GoombaLoveDisaster on: November 08, 2004 10:09:59 AM
i went crazy taking pictures this morning, and decided to share these projects with everyone.

these armwarmers i didn't use a pattern for, i kind just made it up as i went along, i could maybe attempt writing one out if anyone really wants it.

other than that here they are...

weee! knitting is sexy Kiss

a close-up:

there's about an inch of ribbing (knit 2, purl 2) around the top and bottom, it blends into the cable kinda, wierdly, but yah... i think they turned out pretty sweet Grin

okay and for some scarves i made recently...

the one that looks like my neck's throwing up cotton candy, i knit with chunky snowflake yarn, using some fat needles, size 16 or 17, and love it... it's so soft and fluffy and weighs next to nothing.

the other scarf i knit with a multi-colered wool blend in a double sided stockinette stitch using the same fat needles. it's super warm and cozy, and i love it as well.

that is all.

thanks for looking Wink

hey again everyone! i got bored and decided to draw up some reconstruction directions for this dress... so here they are! i hope they make sense...

--1st step is to find a really big, really awesome t-shirt you don't mind chopping up.

*i imagine those huge band shirts that are too big to wear except to bed, would do nicely...

--you'll want cut off the sleeves and sides of the shirt according to your size. you might want to put the shirt on and mark it where you want to cut...

--next cut straight across the middle/or a few inches under middle of shirt if you want a low waist... sew up what will be the sides of your dress, so you have two pieces, a top, and bottom with seams... *save the extra material*

--go find another, smaller shirt you can cut up...

--cut a piece around the middle of the 2nd shirt to be your waistband, and sew it between your top and bottom pieces. this lengthens the dress a little, and well, it looks cool... damnit.

--make a hem around the top of dress leaving about an inch open, and thread a piece of elastic though. gather the elastic a bit so it's snug fitting and stich up the open part of the hem. ta-da!

*for some extra length and snazziness, i sewed the extra material around the bottom in random hap-hazardness. i used a zig-zag stitch on the machine, but you can just sew by hand if the bunched up fabric is being naughty...

yay! this dress is so fun... club/dance/flirty/date/party/i sewed this shit myself, i freaking rule...kinda fun.... and so simple to make;)

9  *Boogie Dancing* hot recon dress (now with directions) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by GoombaLoveDisaster on: November 05, 2004 06:41:37 AM
i died off this website for a while but i'm back... with this dress i made out of a big huge t-shirt from the salvation army. it was too awesome not to do something with...

if i were to make this dress over, undoubtedly i would make it LONGER... for i look pretty freaking naked in this picture. now i know what that look from my mom was for when i said "MOM, look what i made!"

but i wore this dress dancing and felt like a fashion genius when random girls where all about it... "like oh my god! where did you get your dress?" and and old boyfriend of mine was there... and yah, i don't know where i'm going with this, so i'll just stop.

anyway, i wish there was a pattern to share, but i pretty much just started cutting and sewing... the froof around the bottom is just scraps from the yellow shirt i stiched on with a zigzag stitch and red thread. the red waistband is from a different shirt i cut up... i could try to explain how to make it of anyone asks.

10  Amelia Earhart Aviator Cap in Knitting: Completed Projects by GoombaLoveDisaster on: November 05, 2004 06:12:00 AM
i'm back to this website after a long time of absence. truth is i've been really uber depressed and havn't wanted to do anything at all, even be crafty. truly, i was lost. until recently i just decided to pick up those trusty knitting needles and knit my busted lil heart out... yah ANWAY... i knit a couple scarfs and some other things, but i'll post them later.. cuz this puppy, i'm really proud of...

here's the picture from the pattern...

i got the pattern off this website http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/patterns.htm it has a bunch of lovely little hat patterns, it is just a lovely page of loveliness actually.

they call it the Amelia Earhart Aviator Cap, the pattern is lengthy but i managed to tackle it only ripping it out three times! yah... but it was for my halloween costume so i was determined to finish it. and i did.

it's knit mostly in the knit/purl fashion with some increasing/decreasing and some wrapping/turning(this is what i found tricky at first but i got it pretty well figuired by my third attempt)an ambitious beginer or intermediate knitter should be able to handle this pattern pretty easily once you get going. i'll be glad to help anyone that wants to make this hat and has questions... http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/kpatt07.htm

it took two skeins of yarn, i chose a soft wooly chocolate brown... i'm in love with it, i have to figuire out what else to wear it with beside my halloween costume. i also want to knit another one in some different color... green maybe.

anyway... here's a picture of me from halloween in my hat. i was a gun moll.

*bang bang*
