31  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Perfect Scale Commision (Loads of Pictures) on: October 11, 2009 09:29:49 AM
I'm sure this isn't relevant to this situation, since the girl's mother asked you to create it, but I beg everyone who considered/will consider making a similar gift:

Any focus on an ED sufferer's weight can, and likely will, trigger. ESPECIALLY when it's an outsider, EVEN if they're telling me nice things. Because you're still focused on it, I'm fixated on it, and in some cases, if I'm being told I'm perfect when I'm at my worst, I could clearly only be more perfect if I'm more emaciated.

YMMV but I would hate to see such a sweet thought backfire.

I do not struggle with an eating disorder nor do I have any loved ones who do, but I wouldn't mind having that in my bathroom at all!  It's taking something that makes you think less of yourself and turning it into something beautiful that reminds you that you are beautiful as well!
And thank you for your comment, rinkin.  It would indeed be a shame to see such a sweet thought backfire.

I love the elephant, so cute!  xahhitsliz, you can see your address in one of the pictures.  You might want to cover it up by putting a box over it or something in Paint. Smiley

It's really pretty!  However, when I saw the little circles and swirly lines I thought octopus.  So I think you should make some octopus ones!  Wink

My future mother in law makes quilts from kimono silk.  I'll pass the tute along to her, because it looks like the perfect thing to use up little scraps!  So pretty!

Naughty words are the best words.  Grin
Have you heard the piece from the Vagina Monologues called "Reclaiming Cunt"?  I always wanted to do that piece because I'd get to yell "CUNT!" multiple times in front of an audience, and that is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

39  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Quilt for mum - help!!!! on: July 01, 2009 06:44:48 PM
The fabrics on the unsewn side don't seem to mesh together well.  Perhaps the culprit is, as others are suggesting, the striped fabric.  The orangey one doesn't mesh well to my eyes either.  There isn't enough orange/tan in other fabrics to balance it out.
