1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my calorimetry! on: January 08, 2007 08:16:56 PM
So I got super burned out on holiday knitting, but my fingers were itching for something.  So I knitted this today and I'm super pumped, since I have to wear my hair up for work.

laid flat

On me

On a side note, I know that lots of people had size issues, but I have a ginormous head and I knit really tight, so I opted for the original size.  It's a hair too big, but it's good.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Go Hawks! on: November 12, 2006 06:03:55 AM
My whole family has been born and bred to be Iowa Hawkeye fans, even though we relocated to Minnesota long ago.  My sister decided she needed a Hawkeye hat.  And it didn't even turn out too bad!  I would say that this was my first attempt at intarsia, except that I had to strand the graphic because of all the black in the yellow (or the reverse, I guess Smiley ).

Here it is flat:

And here it is on her head.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I need sock help... on: September 05, 2006 08:56:10 PM
Ok, so I want to knit my dad a pair of socks for Christmas.  I'd never knitted socks before, so I wanted to make myself a pair just to make sure I could do them.  I finished the first one, in Essential Sock yarn from knitpicks and it's too big for me.  And I'm a big girl with big legs.  And I didn't change the pattern at all.

My question is this:  are hand-knitted socks just supposed to be a bit looser than storebought?  I normally knit really tightly and have just recently become accustomed to knitting looser, but then I think my sock was too loose, but it was still abou 7.5 sts to the inch, which seemed to be about normal.

Am I crazy?
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / pretty pink slippers on: August 21, 2006 04:02:09 PM
I love Mary Jane shoes, and thus slippers, but all the patterns I saw were either felted, which I can't do because of a front loadeing washer, or in garter stitch, which I detest on my feet.  Well, I guess I kind of detest it in general.  I have no idea why.  I'll tell my therapist about it later Smiley.

Anywho, so I made stockinette stitch pink and black slippers for my sister.  Let me know what you think.

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / I made a boobholder! My first FO post, too! on: July 27, 2006 07:49:04 PM
I know the boobholder craze seems to be over, but my sister decided that's what she wanted to go over the cutest strapless sundress she bought for a wedding.  Well, she wore the sweater, but not the dress.  (long story Smiley)
