23  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: dora and bob and all commercial toys that suck the life out of children... on: October 14, 2005 11:52:22 PM
i too am a no tv mama but we watch videos sometimes. and those videos do include spongebob and dora. I like the dora cartoons because they teach spanish. Blues clues teaches sign language. PBS kids videos are cool and we watch the old old disney movies- snow white, bambi, cinderella. Oh and you cant forget charlottes web. (my favorite)
my two year old says big words like salutations, sings songs from veggie tales and does sign language and speaks a little spanish. i owe part of that to her videos.
i learn stuff from those shows too!
my biggest thing about tv is the commercials...
24  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What's a good age to teach children to knit? on: October 14, 2005 11:41:20 PM
my daughter is 2 1/2 and she is already trying! she asks me if she can knit... she twirls the yarn around the (thick blunt least dangerous) needles and pokes them through the yarn balls. she loves it. im so glad she is a knitting enthusiast just like her mommy already Smiley

27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / mohair skirt (ex-sweater) on: October 12, 2005 12:14:23 AM
i found this fabulous flowing sweater at a garage sale for a dollar. it was a hideous sweater...and itchy... as a skirt its great with a pair of hose.
i undid the seams around the arms and cut off the top just below the collar.
the slits of the skirt are where the arms used to be. i just ran a piece of similar yarn through the stitches where i cut and sewed a piece through the waist to tie and keep it up...
anywho here it is
28  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Phonebooks on: October 11, 2005 04:10:29 PM
when i was a kid we did this craft where you fold each page down (corner to the inside)you end up with a round book because the pages are all doubled. then you spray paint it green to make a christmas tree.
kinda lame but i thought id throw it out there.
29  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: While Mommy lurked on craftster... on: October 08, 2005 04:34:11 AM
ok so i must add my cute little story to the thread...i cant resist.
i went into my two year old daughter's room yesterday and found little curly lockets of hair on her floor. i asked her if she cut her hair and she said
"yeah, i cut my hair. my hair so pwetty. And you're happy for me mommy"
i hadnt even noticed until i found the hair in her room because her hair is so curly and wild. But you know what- i am happy for her Wink
