1  UNITED STATES / Maryland / free stuff! on: January 23, 2006 03:29:15 PM
so I'm moving in two weeks, and unfortunately, I have to get rid of a lot of my stash.  I'm not cryin' though, I'm moving to Hawaii, suckas!  hehe.  anyway.  here's the loot:  fabric:  mainly polyester in black, some dark reddish colors, some blue, some various scraps; a bag o' lace (my mother had an ungodly amount, and I had an obssession with it for a while... this has passed... I think...); two mostly full bags of polyester fiber fill; and some acrylic yarn in varoius colors/weights.  the yarn might be going to a friend of mine, but I'm giving her a very short deadline to let me know if she wants it.  I also have a few other random crafty things.  I'd love to keep all of this stuff, but I figure if I get rid of what I have now, I can get newer, shinier stuff later!  now, all of this can be yours with three conditions:  1)  you take everything.  all at once.  2)  you come and get it, in Columbia.  I use public transportation, so I don't feel like bussing this stuff.  3)  you get it by this weekend.

I'm also going to put an ad on craigslist, so hopefully this stuff will go fast.  thanks everyone!  Cool
2  UNITED STATES / Hawaii / what's going on in Hilo? on: January 15, 2006 09:51:44 AM
I am going to be moving to Hilo in February, and I have no clue where anything is.  I'm guessing that there won't be much in the way of yarn stores, but is there a cool place to get general art supplies, beads, and the like?  also, how do I meet cool people out there?  I'm scared I won't fit in at all, which I guess isn't so important, but still...
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / dissecting a knit item... help! on: October 22, 2005 03:45:34 PM
so I did a dumb thing and started knitting a Dr. Who Scarf (http://www.doctorwhoscarf.com) with some leftover yarn.  of course I ran out of a color, and of course the yarn is some vintage stuff that I can't replace.  my question is this... I'm sure that it's possible to take the scarf apart and rework the sections with a different yarn... how would I go about taking the scarf apart and then reattaching the new sections?  will this drive me insane?
