1  Re: How to get a 4 day workout using a folding chair, a level, & 6 rolls of tape in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by missedakick on: August 25, 2008 09:52:43 AM
I did this to my living room a few years ago, and I LOVED it. Of course, my stripes were 9 inches wide instead of four =) I also did it with dark brown which became a little opressive.

2  Re: Earring Binge Swap Round 3 (5) Gallery in The Swap Gallery by missedakick on: June 16, 2007 10:43:53 AM
There was only a single pair of earrings that I made that didn't get posted and I really liked them so I wanted to post them now that I've finally posted pictures of all of the earrings that I recieved! whoa, mouthful.

I loved all of my earrings and have had innumerable compliments on the creativity and originality of all of them!

I sent these to skotskiper because she indicated that she liked 'nautical' themes. I know this usually means anchors but I LOVE working with seashellls...These are sea shells and really gorgeous real turquoise beads that I got in San Diego.
Without further ado....

3  owl stamp print in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by missedakick on: June 11, 2007 06:10:11 PM
I made this for my partner during the owl swap and since I just sent I figured I could post pictures of it now! It's carved into linoleum and I haven't done a project like this in a few years so I was really glad it went well on the first try.

Actual stamp

Image it makes

I would say it's about two by three inches. I am really excited about re-discovering print making in the manner (i usually silkscreen) I hope to do some more larger scale projects soon!
Oh, yea, the owl is my own design too.

4  art light plate switch covers in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by missedakick on: June 06, 2007 07:45:34 AM
Light plate swith covers are my new obsession. They're dirt cheap and they make rooms so much more interesting. Here are five that I did for me. I made ten more for a friend and sent them to her! She was very happy, but doesn't own a screwdriver yet so can't switch them out.

I was a speculative art history major so I was drawn to these. You can use anything. I used mod podge to adhere and seal them. I used an exacto knife to cute out the holes and center.

5  my first yarn in Spinning: Completed Projects by missedakick on: June 06, 2007 07:41:43 AM
I spun this on a drop spindle I got in a kit from Raynbow. I think she said the roving was a merino/alpaca blend. I could be very wrong. Spinning is so much harder than it looks But as soon as I find more already carded roving then I think I will be addicted.

It's very short yarn. Probably only fifty yards. I might make a necklace out of it using an icord.

6  Batiks I have made in Dyeing: Completed Projects by missedakick on: June 06, 2007 07:34:35 AM
I used to batik ALL of the time (back when i didn't have to work two jobs and go to school...) and I wanted to share some of the batiks I did. I actually found craftster combing the internet for other people that batiked and back then all I could find was 'wallet made out of batik fat quarter' SO I am very excited that this board now exists. It was also an excellent thing I found craftster =)

I use Dylon cold water dyes which I am no longer crazy about because the greens aren't very rich.

I should hang this one up today The Kanji means 'graceful'

Two little ones that I meant to turn into pillow covers for friends

One I sent to a friend from canada in scotland this year because I thought it might remind her of home

I made about twenty five others that I gave out as gifts or sold. I hope to have a free summer again someday for things like this!

It's been a busy week for me too! I thought I'd finally get around to posting the last two pairs of earrings I recieved! This has been the most fun swap! I will definatley join the next round. (good excuse to buy more supplies!)

From Jenn1518 I recieved two smashing pairs which go remarkably well with each other (I have two ear piercings in each ear)

The larger pair

The cute leaf pair for the top hole.

And from Luinecu which came from overseas with excellent stamps which I peeled off to adore....
I have had so many compliments on these earrings! I can't thank you enough for making them for me!

I had a lot of fun. I've posted pictures of all of the ones that I recieved (Finally) Thanks everyone!

I recieved about a week ago from both Riario and Bethiej78. I was going to wait until I got all of my earrings to post but decided that that wouldn't be very fair. (everyone loves earring porn  Wink) So anyway here are pictures of the earrings I have got so far! Bethiej78 took much better pictures of the pair that she sent to me! My camera and I are not friends. And to all of my partners--- I am sending tomorrow morning!

from bethiej78

from riario

I have had so many compliments already on both of these pairs! Thank you so much!

whoooo hooo! I have recieved. yarn_mafia DID me in. I am one spoiled girl. THE yarn she spun, yes SPUN, is amazing and lovely. She also dyed a skien, so I got two skiens of yarn and she WOVE me a change pouch. There were also stitch markers, earrings and some pin back buttons with excellent messages =) eeeep. On to the pictures.

This is my yarn ball that I had to rip into. My pattern is for a head wrap (panta) She also dyed some fabric to serve as a dread wrap for me (lovely)

UNWRAPPED oh my the goodies. She bought me some delicious organic chocolate. It's interesting she picked some out made in her hometown flaver- Hempen Hazelnut. Which me and the guy broke into, and then she also bought some made in my hometown from the endangerd species chocolate bar company which i have dumpster dived at with GREAT results. So a tale of two cities, eh?

Thats all gang, thanks for the amazing package yarn_mafia, you were fantastic.
