Those headbands are adorable! If I have a baby girl, she'll be stuck wearing headbands like that! haha Smiley

Here is my package from rantyhippie!

I'm expecting in April, so she made some awesome crafts for me and my little baby...

There are two burp cloths (love the shape!), a baby sleep sack (love this bright green color), three adorable knitted owls, and a nursing cover!

All of the colors are perfect--Thank you so much! Smiley
3  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Homemade Lip Balm on: February 03, 2011 07:43:04 AM
Those look fantastic! If you don't mind me asking, where did you find the little pots? I wanted to make some lip balm for christmas, but I couldn't find any inexpensive containers for it.

I looked high and low but finally found these pots near the jewelry craft section (I think possibly at WalMart).  You can also get inexpensive supplies at http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/ --That's where I have gotten some of mine.

I made my first real batch of lip balm!  And it's all-natural, too. Smiley
I love this recipe! I got it from the Soapmaker's Companion.

The story: my fiance has trouble with cold sores, so I made him a castor oil and essential oil blend to put on his lips.  He used it all up and said it helped, but that it also dried and irritated his skin.  My solution: a moisturizing lip balm for healing PLUS moisturizing.  It turned out great!  I'm very happy with the product. Smiley

Wheat germ oil, coconut oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, beeswax, and vegetable glycerin

My essential oils:

Got my pots ready:

Melting ingredients on the stove-top:

After pouring into the pots:

The recipe I made seemed small, but it made eight .5-oz pots.  I added peppermint EO to all of the pots, and a mixture (peppermint, lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus) to my fiance's special balm.
It turned out wonderfully!  It is very moisturizing but not greasy at all.  I will definitely be using this recipe again!  Enjoy Smiley

Loving my new lip balm!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Winter Headband on: December 17, 2010 08:58:07 AM
Very cute!...I see women wearing these type of headbands all over the place and I always think to myself "she probably made that, I should make one"...it's cold here too...Did you follow a pattern???

I followed a pattern for the flowers:

Then I simply attached the flowers to a self-made band.  I used a double crochet knot and made it to my liking.  Hope this helps!

My ears have been getting ridiculously cold in this weather--so I quickly made a headband for myself.

(PS: This is the first time I made flowers!  I love them!)

I'm a beginner crocheter.. be nice Wink
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fabric Flower Hair Pins on: December 16, 2010 12:49:45 PM
So my sisters and I saw these at a craft fair, but I was horrified by the price.  $4 for one, and $6 for two.  Nonsense!  I thought. I can make these myself!  So I did. Wink

I will be giving the flower pins to my 11 y/o sister, and the silver bows to my 14 y/o sister for Christmas.

Hope you like!

First time making a scrub shirt--using McCall's M5895, top C.

Saved a bundle and had fun along the way--I think it turned out really cute! Smiley
