11  Peace Fleece Vest & Clapotis in Knitting: Completed Projects by elliebelly on: March 01, 2007 06:48:55 AM
Not one, but two finished items this week Smiley

woo hoo!  woo hoo!  after two months of knitting!

i did the full size clapotis, and it's huge!

i still have to let the stitches run down a few more rows and weave in all the ends, but i have a preliminary picture

The peace fleece vest knit up very quickly and like a dream.  This pattern is perfect.  One of the few I have ever knit that I would say that about.  Simple, but perfect.

12  Anyone else done the Peace Fleece Child's Vest? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by elliebelly on: February 15, 2007 07:39:18 PM
I've just finished the back of this vest, using Peace Fleece yarn.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this pattern based upon the sketch, but it looks much nicer "in person" and knits up quickly and easily.

the reason I"m curious as to whether anyone else has done this is because it seems like it would lend itself to endless variation and i would love to see what people have done with it!

13  dog got my knitting in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by elliebelly on: January 08, 2007 07:40:21 PM
this is all that was left of one of the needles.  i am not kidding.

she did this to two different projects, a clapotis, and the jo sharp scarf in the picture and managed to not drop a stitch while consuming the better part of two needles!

14  My first lace! in Knitting: Completed Projects by elliebelly on: December 23, 2006 06:29:00 AM
i'm cheating a bit, b/c it isn't quite done, but I have never knit lace before and i'm totally enamoured with this scarf!  the yarn is a bit heavy for lace -- it's some of my own hand-dyed silk.  but i think that once it is blocked it's going to be divine!

15  knitting & the nutcracker (anthro shrug, felted slippers, more) in Knitting: Completed Projects by elliebelly on: December 18, 2006 05:54:02 AM
my dd was in seven (!?!) performances of the nutcracker over the last ten days.  i was a bad stage mommy.  i did my job, and then, instead of hanging out and talking endlessly, i got down to knitting!

1 anthro shrug, part of a jacket, a pair of felted slippers, half a sock and the start of two scarves -- i NEVER have that much time alone to knit!  especially not the kind of time to concentrate on a new pattern!

the shrug is in colinette point 5 and i'll try to add pictures of the rest as i get time.

17  Oh Jan Dress? Finished !!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by elliebelly on: November 23, 2006 05:15:56 PM

This is for those of you who have patiently looked at the partially done pictures in my blog for the last couple of months and listened to me whine about the growing child and the rows of stockinette that would never end!

It's done!  I thought this was a fabulous and very easy pattern to knit, and would strongly encourage anyone who is feeling adventuresome to try it.

18  new dyed yarn! in Dyeing: Completed Projects by elliebelly on: November 18, 2006 07:26:58 AM
i am discovering the joys of alpaca, a fiber i have no clue as to why i haven't previously indulged in.  it's my new favorite.

this is an alpaca/wool blend i dyed for a friend, but i liked it so much i did some extra skeins for myself.  i'm wondering about using it for another clapotis.

19  the short attention span scarf is done! in Knitting: Completed Projects by elliebelly on: November 04, 2006 02:00:05 PM
the perfect pattern for everyone of us who is a little bit adhd  Roll Eyes

it was a fun, challenging but still fast, knit and my daughter is really enjoying the result!  essentially, i just worked through different stitches, using a stitch dictionary (because my daughter liked the swatch, where i had tried the yarn out in three different stitches.)  it turned into a fabulous opportunity to try out lots of stitches that looked interesting, but that i haven't yet felt like committing to doing an entire sweater in.  i'm going to try and write up the pattern if i get some time this week, but you don't really need one.  the basic idea is to just stay with a stitch until you're tired of it -- all you have to do is insure you select patterns that take the right number of stitches (and you may want to give a preference to stiches that look good on the wrong side or are reversible and remember to keep a garter stitch border on stockinette based stitches so the edges don't roll).

best of all, it was the perfect one skein project.  i think i'm going to do one for myself in double stranded silk and cashmere yarns.
