11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: ::Best Headband Ever:: (with tutorial) on: June 12, 2007 04:42:00 PM
Glad y'all like it!

Malina...I'd try the narrow version. not sure what you mean by "odd" shape, but it seems to be the narrow version would be pretty sturdy for anyone. Also, try to gauge if it's coming off because it's too loose or too tight...but cases can cause it to come off. Once you know why it's happening you can shorted the elastic or trim the ends of the template a bit.

Cheers!

I've gone through a headband phase. I messed around with shape after shape until I came up with something that (I think) fits wonderfully. It's not too tight but stays on securely. Plus...it's really 2 headbands in 1 since it's totally reversible.

I have a little tutorial and a PDF of the templates on my blog.

If you make one, I'd love to see it!  Grin

13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: It's a bag! It's a bucket! It's a basket! on: May 15, 2007 12:45:27 PM
it sounds like there's enough interest in a little walk-through...so as I put together my next one, I'll take lots of pics and put it together. I did email the lady with the bag that inspired this one just to make sure she knows that I'm doing this (don't want to step on any toes.) But I think since I didn't follow any pattern, it should be ok for me to put together a tutorial. Hopefully I'll have it for you by the weekend. Thanks for the compliments!

Thanks!
Yes...it uses very stiff interfacing. Timtex would be fine. The handles have the interfacing too. It stands up perfectly but is soft enough to pull the handles together so you can carry it with one hand.

The inside has a soft liner layer with pockets and a drawstring top too.

Totally inspired by http://knitboxing.ong.id.au/2007/03/28/up-to-no-good/

A friend and I had some fun over the weekend:

I have a pic of the inside here: http://foofanagle.wordpress.com/2007/05/14/basket-bucket-bag/

I'm making another one...and I'm thinking about doing a step-by-step of how I make it. What do you think?

16  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / ::simple coasters:: (w/ tutorial link) on: May 06, 2007 02:06:14 PM
I've been slogging through a lap-quilt and needed a break.

I saw a coaster on a blog recently and was totally inspired.
I wish I could remember which blog I saw it on...if anyone knows, let me know so I can give proper credit.

I'm so in love with these. They're fun and easy to make and I'm really happy that I found a use for those tiny scraps I keep for no apparent reason.

I tossed together a tutorial in case you want to give them a try.
