11  Pinafore/jumper aka my first sewing experience! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rhymewithorange on: July 07, 2007 07:11:52 AM
So while hanging out on craftster the other day I saw this pinafore--> https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=107286.0  by stopthefacades and thought that I could probably pull that off with whatever sewing knowledge I had left from six grade home ec. So I got some super cheap fabric from Wal Mart and sewed away, and I'm pretty happy with the results!

I'm trying to decide if I want to put buttons on it or not, but then that limits what colors I can wear it with so who knows...

And I wore it out on friday and got a bunch of compliments. I think I'm in love with making my own clothes! Next I want to reconstruct a big tshirt into a babydoll type thing. If anyone knows a good tutorial...

12  Hurrah to procrastination!! in Stenciling: Completed Projects by rhymewithorange on: June 25, 2007 08:37:55 PM
Of course I waited until the last possible minute to post my entry...but here it is. Sorry there is no action shot, it's still drying, haha.

I used textile paint + freezer paper technique.

The finished product from afar.

Close up.

And the original picture.

I was trying to go for something like that picture of two faces that make a vase like so...
...but it didn't turn out that way. I should have done white on black but I didn't have a black tshirt handy and since I am the queen of procrastination I had to make do with what I had.

13  "Peace leaf" Vans I never wear...let's change that!! in Shoes: Discussion and Questions by rhymewithorange on: July 22, 2006 05:32:13 PM
So a year or so ago my ex-boyfriend bought me these Vans for a theme party...

I've worn them about two times since then because 1) I own nothing pink and 2) they're just a little too out there. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I'm afraid of painting over them completely in case the pattern underneath shows through (plus I suck at painting, haha).

14  my first stencil experience...yay!! in Stenciling: Completed Projects by rhymewithorange on: May 17, 2006 06:19:16 PM
So school is out so I finally have time to be crafty....I love summer, yay!!

So this is my first try at stenciling. I've been lurking about this board for a while admiring everyone's work and then yesterday I spent the entire day making shirts, excellent!

(I apologize for the crappy pic quality)

I ♥ Stephen Colbert

Yay Princess Bride! (and, yes, those are my feet)

I couldn't find my paintbrushes, so I tried to fill in my bridges on the first one with a cheap watercolor brush...as you can see that was bad. So I haven't done that yet, but I think I can get away with it on chemists one cause it kind of looks like that is how the font is. But overall I'm happy with how they came out. And the best part? All three t-shirts and all the supplies were only $20. Sweet!

15  THC t-shirt in Needlework: Completed Projects by rhymewithorange on: March 01, 2006 10:40:54 PM
So I decided that other day to take up embroidery...I used to make tea towels with my mom when I was, like...four, and I have not touched the stuff since, but I got tired of knitting, so...I made this shirt! It's a THC molecule. I just typed THC into google to find the structure. I get all sorts of compliments on it when ever I wear it...especially in orgo! And now I'm in the process of making another for a friend.

(the design is a lot more noticable in real life...the flash on the camera made it look kind of crazy)

The shirt on...just pretend my camera cord isn't in the way and that I don't look like a slob, haha.

It only took a few hours...did the whole thing while watch Buffy afterschool one day..excellent! I free-handed the design on, which was actually really hard. I tried using dress-makers carbon paper but no matter how hard I tried it just would show up on the fabric...very annoying. But I think it turned out alright, it's not perfect but you can tell I made it that way, which I like. But if anyone has any suggestions as to how I could transfer the image onto a shirt, esp a black one, that would be super helpful!

16  Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by rhymewithorange on: January 10, 2006 06:34:17 PM
okay, so I know I'm a bit late on this whole tattoo post thing, but I can't help but post anyway.

So I have two tattoos, the first I got on my 18th birthday, the next a few months later. I really want to get a blue star on my wrist but my mom would probably kill me (she doesn't know about the others yet...I've been wearing pants for two years to cover up the one on my ankle!)

My first tattoo, on my hip...

(This is actually a weird angle...it's not that stretched out.)
I know, I know...typical. But I've wanted this exact tattoo since I was ten. It means flower (my middle name is a flower) and it is pronouced 'Hana' and my name is Hannah. Yeah, I'm cool.

And the other...

This one is some symbols from my favorite series of books by Stephen King. Yeah, it's dorky. I love it. (And I apologize for the unshaved leg action)
