2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Personalized Macbook: Cat decal on: October 10, 2010 05:57:26 AM

(I am not sure if this is the right category - my computer does seem to be quite a central part of my home though (and my office, too), and this does improve the look of both of those places.)

Macbook Pros are pretty, sleek, shiny things. But when everyone at work has the same pretty, sleek, shiny thing, it can be a bit much of all that elegant aluminum glow and not enough personality. (It's also hard to spot your own in a meeting room.)
Some people started to buy decals but a) buying them is pricey and boring and b) some people ended up having the same ones so their uniqueness isn't quite so unique.

So! Craftiness to the rescue! All you need is some adhesive plastic film (DIY stores have them), a paper cutter, an idea for a design (using the glowing white apple is tempting) and a lazy Saturday. (If your Macbook has a tendency to crash far more often than your old Windows machine, threatening its innocent fruit logo feels oddly satisfying.)

See the result! I'm quite pleased (if a bit worried that it doesn't stick well enough... I hope it doesn't come off too quickly!)

3  U.K. AND IRELAND / IRELAND / Dublin crafters? on: October 10, 2010 05:55:21 AM
Hello there,

I'm relatively new to Dublin and feel like I might still be missing some good craft stores here - I'd be very happy for any suggestions for places to buy fabric, wool, or general craft surprise!

Here's what I've found so far:

This is Knit - gorgeous wool shop (not cheap but lovely stuff) - www.thisisknit.ie
Woollen Mills - some fabrics, wools, sewing supplies - http://www.woollenmills.ie/
K&M Evans - artist supplies (painting etc) - http://www.kmevans.com/

Surely there are more? Smiley

The black&white one is great!
And it makes me feel like sewing a bright red heart-shaped button to one of the black circles.  Smiley

Beautiful! That is a really lovely pattern - would you mind sharing which one it is?
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: My First Sweater on: October 09, 2010 03:22:09 PM
Wow - amazing job for a first sweater! It fits you very well, and I love your interpretation of that pattern! The stripes look really nice.

I also really, really like the modified neckline - I thought about knitting this for a bit but also didn't think I would really wear anything so far off the shoulders.
