11  My Prom Necklace (ooold xD) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Lody on: August 09, 2007 12:10:18 AM
My necklace from prom back in May... yeah, I'm lazy with the picture taking. My friend's mom has all the pictures of my dress so I can't show that yet, but it was medieval so the necklace didn't look too huge.

I swear I'm not sunburnt, the lighting was just weird.  The fabric is actually a lot greener. Smiley

12  painted converse -- sooo original, I know ;) in Shoes: Completed Projects by Lody on: August 09, 2007 12:05:08 AM
So I owned this pair of black lowtops. And I don't like lowtops, so I had to do something to them so I'd want to wear them. Now everyone loves my shoes XD

Both together.

The more geeky shoe, side one. Symbols for half the planets, the notepad and windows logos, a lily, one of my nicknames. Amazing shoelace Wink  On the toe is a spiral of fibonaccis.

More geeky shoe, side two. Ignore my boyfriend's not awesome shoe xD Firefox and aim logo, more planet symbols, ankh. On the back is my name in hieroglyphics, but you can't tell in the pic. Around the bottom are the first 259 digits of pi Cheesy

Arty shoe, side one. Nothing really special, but I love the bottom.

Arty shoe, side two. I think you can tell what everything is xD That's a french flag on the back Smiley And a hello kitty shoelace.

13  Pricing advice? (bracelet) in Get Product and Website Opinions by Lody on: June 21, 2007 08:14:16 PM
So, I need to make money this summer...and crafting seems to be a lot more interesting than working at a local coffee shop Tongue  But, of course, I need to see if it's feasible first =)  Can you guys help me with the average prices I could expect to sell some things for?

Bracelet made out of recycled computer RAM.  I could make these personalized to whatever the shopper wants on it, and I'm a relatively good artist.

Bags such as this (it has a flap).  Could I hope to get at least 50$ for this?  It took a TON of work, so less would probably not be worth it.  Come to think of it, 50$ would barely be more than a dollar per hour of work x.X But it was my first real sewing project... once again, the front could be hand decorated as shopper wanted.

I have no other examples, but I could also sew smaller bags and the like--in your experience have such things been cost-effective?

Also, this is not as crafty but I figure it is the right board to ask.  As "small businesses," how much would you expect to pay for a website?  I can code html/css/etc, and I want to offer my services in my local community/online, but I want to know what basic prices I should ask =)

Thank you so much in advance for any help <3

14  Re: Fashion Doodling Anyone? in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Lody on: June 03, 2007 12:45:25 PM
Eee, a doller! Cheesy I used to doll like CRAZY. It's what got me into designing clothes and stuff, really--it taught me that shirts and shorts are boring forever... Aaah, I miss dolling (can't do it right now, my tablet is serial port and my desktop is dead ... and of course my lappy has no serial. Sad )
But that is one awesome dolly, cute cute Smiley I see you pixel shade Cheesy
Now I want to show one off >.>

Not at all my best art wise, but an entertaining outfit... Smiley base

Another cool design, base from Mizuna which I'm pretty sure is gone (haven't been able to find it online in the past few years)

Cheesy Whee! (totally not my fav dolls, but recently I've mostly dolled gaia outfits, ragnarok online chars, etc, so they don't really belong in this fashion doodling thread! Hehe, I should scan in some of my actual fashion doodles and the actual clothes they resulted in Cheesy)

15  Medieval Dress Fabric Ideas... in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Lody on: April 15, 2007 01:35:38 PM
I'm thinking of making McCall's 4997 medieval dress for...my prom... hahaha yes it's rather insane and "too much" but then again that's me. The dress isn't too bad in matters of poofiness... just the sleeves are a bit crazy, they drop nearly to the floor.

Here's a picture of the pattern.
Anyways, what I'm asking is, what kind of fabric should I use for this? I want something that holds the shape relatively well, but I don't want it to be too heavy. I'd found a fabric that was nice but omg, when we measured out how much the dress required, I was barely able to lift the fabric XD
So I thought I'd ask you guys ^^

And if you have any hints regarding making it, I'll take those! Hehe =)

16  Re: 5 Line ATC Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Lody on: April 03, 2007 08:47:23 PM

I hope you'll forgive me the delay and bad picture.  My desktop has decided to die on me and I've really not been in the mood to try fixing it, so I took a picture instead of scanning. Ugh, computers -.-  Great job from everyone else, by the way! Smiley

17  Re: Show off your hair! And questions about hair styles! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by Lody on: April 02, 2007 11:19:55 PM
I just got a hairwrap Cheesy I figure this is the place to post it XD My mom made it...my hair ends about 4 inches above the bead.

Gives you an idea of the length Wink

The cute penguin bead my mom made like, 2 or 3 years ago.  (it's glass) Smiley

Totally just an excuse to show off my awesome bracelets Wink

18  Re: 100 Themes Gallery in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by Lody on: March 11, 2007 12:00:32 AM

Oh, god, the image quality is awful, because I took this at night and the level of detail + slightly blurry shot= ew. I'll get a better picture tomorrow. But anyways, this is #1, introduction. It's me as I normally am (okay, if I normally was cartoony), in my room (if it was normally clean, and lacking of the butterfly chair and yoga ball that are in here).

Bristol board, technical pen (koh-i-noor rapidographs, love!), prismacolor pencils and...GEL PENS xD Gel pens make all illustration work more entertaining.

19  rainbow penguin messenger bag of AWESOMENESS (IMAGE HEAVY) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Lody on: March 05, 2007 07:19:21 PM
(I love my super long subject XD)
So, I have been looking at all the bags around here forever, and I have just fallen in love with some of them... but when I saw "the world's ugliest bag" (too lazy to hunt out the post right now, but I bet you've seen it, it's those two gorgeous snail messenger bags a girl made for a camp...) well, I just knew I had to get off my lazy butt and just make one. It's heavily inspired on her bags, but no ziptop because, ziptop limits the ability to make the bag fat! I used the zippered pocket in the lining tutorial, and the messenger bag with gusset tutorial.
It has ten (billion) pockets, all except the two outside ones lined with a different fabric because, a single fabric, how boring would that be!

Oh, also? It took me at least like, 40 hours to make. No, literally. 10 hours sunday, 7 hours saturday (working all day, what?), a good like, 20 over the week (think every moment of spare time, and being a high school student I have a lot of that), about 10ish over the weekend before that, and five the friday before. Oh god. So. Much. Work.

Following: a few billion pics. I like pics. Cheesy

The quote: If I had a world of my own, everything would be Nonsense. From Alive in Wonderland, picked because it matched my rainbow penguin wonderfully. I may work more on this front part later, but it took like, literally 3 hours to paint the letters. Writing in acrylics? SUCKS!

Fun lining #1!

I totally love that front pocket with the d ring closure. So cute Cheesy Above it is a zipper pocket (my first, and it sucked XD why didn't I think to use black thread for my first time? XD) and next to it, a pocket made like the zippered one, but without a zipper. for tissues Cheesy (allergies are no fun...)

Fun lining #2!

Fun lining #3!

Fun lining 4!

There's a divided pocket sewn against the front inner wall, and a zipper pocket in the back.

Fun lining #5!

Padded pocket, for transport of camera or other electronics without fear. Whee!

Oh no! I suck at bias tape! Will have to fix this at some point, not like it's hard... but way too lazy right now XD

Fun lining #6!

Dimensions: 14"x11"x4.5"

Oh, also, I feel like I should mention. This was my first sewing project apart from like, handsewn armwarmers =)  If I had it to do over, I would make it WAY LESS HEAVY. At one point, I was sewing through 13 layers of fabric. Oh. my. god. XD It's almost as heavy without stuff in it as with x.x But hey, I have a nice laptop padded strap on there right now, so it's all good xD

Sorry this was so long!

Possessed sewing machine, you say?

(Love the bag, by the way XD but the fact that this was today's strip, and then I read your post, made me rofl XDD)
