this is an alter call! hey-oh! if you live in the phoenix area, my band wants to play at your house. sometime in july. we're nice and fun to be with. and we could make crafts after the show. i'm having a little trouble finding openings at proper venues, but we like playing house shows. let's talk about it.

12  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / waterproofing cardboard??? on: May 15, 2004 10:43:05 AM
so i'm making coasters out of old cardboard record sleeves, and i put modge podge on top of them in attempts to waterproof them. question... is there a better way to waterproof cardboard? scotch guard? polyurathane? lamination (i don't think it would work since the cardboard is thick - it would look like the sleeves were in baggies)?

any ideas?

13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / recycling bins for mom on: May 09, 2004 10:02:44 PM
i made recyclng bins for my mom for mother's day. i bought the bins at target and drew what goes in each bin on the lid. cans, plastic, cardboard. i made the yellow parts kind of offset from the lines to make it look screenprinted and poppy. she loved them. several hours later, she called from the kitchen, "do they have any for newspapers?" and i said, "um... they're... the same..." and she goes, "no, you know, one for newspapers. do they make those?" and i said, "you know i DREW that stuff, right?" and then she freaked out, jumping up and down and clapping and cheering. i guess not realizing that they didn't come that way is a pretty good compliment. yeah? yeah. weeee!
