22  Team Bela! (Lugosi, of course) in Screen Printing: Completed Projects by Ralph on: July 29, 2011 01:51:41 AM
Born out of my Bela Lugosi fan-girl-anti-twiliight-ness and my sisters keen sense of humour: the Team Bela Tee:

Made using the embroidery-hoop-mod-podge-and-tights method. I liked the process and the effect is nice for this project, but I think I prefer traditional stencils.

That being said, I love my new tee and the wonderful in-joke geeky-ness of it! Now I just need to take it for a test drive and wait for any geeky comments that might come my way!

23  Indiana Jones Hoop in Needlework: Completed Projects by Ralph on: July 29, 2011 01:43:27 AM
Here's my newest hoop for my accidental hoopla wall:

It was inspired by one that prettyrustyrobot made for the three tiny movie things swap:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=369746.msg4366314#msg4366314, and my love on Indiana Jones. Its simple, but I love it!

C+C welcome

24  Coathanger accessory organisers in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Ralph on: June 05, 2011 12:59:40 AM

I was wanting a way to organise and successfully store some of my accessories in my overfull wardrobe and wanted to reuse some child-sized coathangers that my grandmother had painted for me when I was little and thus these were born:

Some cup-hooks and drawer-pulls later and I had two organisers.
The double one is for my belts, the smaller one is for headbands and light-scarves.

The small one in action. I used curtain rings to hold my soft headbands and a ring that came with a scarf to hold my bandanas.

And the belt hanger. I bent the hook on the second coathanger to ensure it hung straight. I used some bookrings and an old ribbon spool to hold the belts that would not hang on the hooks.

So basic, yes, but I thought they might inspire someone.

25  Steampunk Portraits in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Ralph on: June 05, 2011 12:45:42 AM

Here are some victorian inspired Steampunk portraits I've been playing with. One was made for H-chan in the small Steampunk swap and ended up as a clock. The other two were experiments for me. I've used random plastic objects to experiment with a reverse painting technique and then layered printed vellum and a backing to create the backgrounds. I'm fairly pleased with how they turned out even though it was my first time using the technique and I learned a lot as I went, but overall I'm happy with the effect. Now the photos:

The first one, a portrait for h-chan using a clear protective disc that came with a pack of CD's and then backed with printed vellum and an unwanted CD. I used metal tape to join the CD's together and then added the clock mechanism.

My second attempt on an old CD case, backed with the same vellum and painted chipboard. The border is a decorative lace tape from the scapbooking section.

My final attempt, using the rest of the CD case, veluum and chipboard and edged in the same metal tape.

Any questions or criticism welcome. I am so tempted to paint more!

Yay! I'm glad you liked everything H-Chan. I almost kept the clock I loved her so much! But she wanted to be with you.

Here are the pics of my awesome package from h-chan!

Here is my awesome new steampunk skirt. See the beautiful colours and the aplique(sp?) gears.

Did I mention the gears?

I've been spinning around in it since It arrived. Now I just need an occasion to see it with my full steampunk outfit!

I'm posting pictures of what I sent to biochic,
I may have overcrafted slightly, but here goes:

Soylent corp goodies (keyring, pen, stationary set and in the matchbox, a handcarved stamp)

Vault-tec sticker and magnets

Vault-tec journal

My favourite- Vault-boy bauble head (the biggest polymer clay object I've ever made)

Geneco stickers and magnet

Zydrate necklace

Amber Sweet Tote

There were a few other small things I don't seem to have pictures of, but biochic really loves it, I just hope things get better for her!

Here is my awesome matchbox from Sylvanna!

She based it on an item from one of my favourite films:

Mini-Han-in-Carbonite! *squeee*

and ALL these goodies.

Close-up of my favourites: beautiful earrings, Sin City stickers, flamingo stickers and teeny bunny (take that teeny fox!)

Thanks Sylvanna! I love it all!

I recieved a beautiful matchbox from the awesome Sonjaboo:

she combined my love of books, art deco and steampunk into this awsome book.

And the contents:

My favourites (I think) are the bone bead and the arm charm, but I also love the little paper bits and game pieces.

Thanks Sonjaboo! I love my little bookbox!
