1  Re: 2005 Completed Costumes Scrapbook (completed projects with pictures go here) in Halloween Costumes by anthropologal on: November 01, 2005 10:31:59 AM
A bit late, but hey, we threw our costumes together yesterday after 3p.m. to go out last night.  "I feel your pain" to all the peeps who had costumes people didn't understand.  I was a Desperate Housefly.  My husband was the Great Pumpkin.  Both costumes were homemade and cost less than $15 total for new materials.

My costume was an apron I had with pantyhose tied to it.  The hose were stuffed with plastic grocery bags attached for the extra legs.  I sewed things representing each housewife on the extra legs (fake Ritalin for Lynette, a spatula for Bree, a clutch purse for Gabi, and a paintbrush for Susan).  I also had wings made from coathangers and plastic wrap, and antennae from pipe cleaners, eyes from floral foam balls covered in foil and attached to a headband.  I also made a strand of pearls.  Mr. Anthropologal carved his own pumpkin head and I cut a hole in a $3 black sheet, sewed some snaps so it would fit snugly and voila - costumes!

2  Doggy referee in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by anthropologal on: October 29, 2005 12:40:58 PM
My dog Pixie is going to a Halloween costume contest tomorrow dressed as a referee.  Mainly because she only knows one trick, touchdown!  Referees are also very scary!

As you can see, the costume is a baby t-shirt with black stripes painted on.  I sewed some pants out of an old stretchy skirt I never wore.  I added a pocket and sewed in a yellow penalty flag.  I also sewed snaps in the pants and on the t-shirt so they won't come untucked.

3  Halloween tree in Halloween Decor and Parties by anthropologal on: October 02, 2005 04:57:44 PM
Here is my attempt at more halloween decorating... the halloween tree!  Maybe the Great Pumpkin will leave candy under it if I truly believe!  The ornaments are just craft store felt sewn and glued together.

I just found this site (Thank you BUST!) and now I'm making older projects with materials I have around the house.  Here's my take on the cell phone cozy because Sprint is the devil:

5  Re: Monster Wreath - Updated with pics that work? in Halloween Decor and Parties by anthropologal on: September 27, 2005 02:44:09 PM
Okay, so here's my take on the Monster Wreath.  I got some orange furry stuff on sale, sewed a tube, looped it on a bent clothes hanger, stuffed it with grocery bags, sewed it closed, and hot glued googly eyes on for instant gratification.  Plus, the clothes hanger is what I use to hang it on my door!

It also makes a good doggie frame as you can see.

6  Re: Plastic Grocery Bag Crocheted Clutch in Crochet: Completed Projects by anthropologal on: September 22, 2005 07:57:59 PM
I just wanted to let you know that after finding this site, visiting the Crochet forum and seeing your project, I was able to successfully put off writing a 20 page comprehensive exam for my Ph.D. in order to crochet a purse out of Walmart bags!  Thanks for the inspiration!  Here is the purse, but it's not complete.  I plan to line it and attach a magnetic closure.
