1  He looks like a deranged Easter Bunny in Halloween Costumes by geedownie on: November 06, 2008 06:42:42 AM

I'm an incredible procrasshole and waited until the day before Halloween to sew this.
And to my chagrin, my bobbin winder was not working so I had to wind the bobbins by hand.
But, it came out pretty well I think.

2  He's a Pink Nightmare in Halloween Costumes by geedownie on: November 06, 2008 05:56:06 AM

He was supposed to have a trick or treat bag made with an old advert for a Red Ryder BB Gun, but I just ran out of time.

3  Foster's Home Felt Doll in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by geedownie on: November 12, 2007 05:01:37 PM
My little one decided that he wanted all the Foster's characters.
He already has a large Bloo plushie and Cheese will be started soonish.
So, in the meantime between my exams and competencies at school I've decided to make him little felt dolls.

This weekend I made Eduardo.

I hope to get all the primary and secondary characters done for him and then make the house to store them in.

At least that's the plan...

4  Mac & Bloo in Halloween Costumes by geedownie on: October 31, 2007 09:08:48 AM
My son has a Halloween party at pre-school today and he wanted to be Mac for "TwickorTweat"... so my spoiled little devil spawn was, indeed, Mac.

And what would Mac be without Bloo?

Thankfully, he doesn't have Mac's problem with sugar.
Although, he doesn't need it to be just as hyper.

5  Temperatures are up there, and its hot in Topeka. in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by geedownie on: October 28, 2007 03:22:44 PM
My little boy's going to be Mac from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends for Halloween and I made him a Bloo plushie for him to carry around in his green backpack.

Next comes Cheese.

6  Cherry Blossom clock in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by geedownie on: June 11, 2006 02:17:59 PM
I apologize, but I don't have any "before" pictures... but trust me, this is an improvement.

I bought this clock a long, long time ago from LTD and it was supposed to have a plain cream colored face. But it didn't. Instead, it had a cream colored face with this screen print of a stream and a little boy fishing and that was done in a chocolate brown. I couldn't stand it. I put it up in my kitchen and forgot about it (hence the dust on it).

So I decided to give it a little face lift. I painted the whole thing a chcolate brown and did an wash in gold. Then I laid in the branch in ebony, then the blossoms in 4 shades of pink. I finally etched in the lines to give it a little more depth.

7  Re: Urban Decay architechtonic vessel in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by geedownie on: April 27, 2006 10:35:12 PM
Thanks Smiley
I actually hated this piece until I had it completely done. Now I love it, but don't have the room for it... but I may just bring it home anyway.

Here's part of the inspiration for the piece.

8  Mmmm. Raku in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by geedownie on: April 27, 2006 10:01:25 AM
We just did a raku firing in studio and I have these lovelies.
These are my first ever thrown pots and felt they should have a special glaze instead of your run of the mill cone 10 or 6 glazes.

I'll have better photos next week once I get them photographed for a portfolio.
I just was all proud of them Smiley

9  Urban Decay architechtonic vessel in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by geedownie on: April 27, 2006 09:57:11 AM
I made this for a project in my ceramics studio in school. It almost made it into the honors art show, which I see as being a huge compliment... since I'm not (yet) an art student.

I based it on an old railroad terminal in Buffalo.

There's actually a crumbly wall that goes here, but it broke during bisque firing and had to be reglued. It's back up on the finished piece

I'm having photographs taken of this for a portfolio next week, once I get the pictures, I'll post those.

10  Re: Need ideas... in Discussion and Questions by geedownie on: January 15, 2006 06:49:47 PM
My friend's kitty passed away last night, it happened alot sooner than I thought it would.
I'm mostly done with his kitty shrine. I think I'm going to leave it rather simple and plain and then make him something cuddly and make that with the bacon and hobo sack on the stick. I'm still trying to figure out what to make that fits that bill.
I've been playing around with placement of the picture and matting that I'm going to use on the picture and the little metal quote thingie I bought.
Then I just have to go and find a nice volitive or tea light holder and candle.

Here's some pictures of the box I'm using. I got it at AC Moore and stained it last night. The inside back is some fancy embossed paper in a nice purple color.
I don't have the picture printed yet, everyplace I've been to has been closed or their machine was broken. The metal quote thingie says:
"We don't remember days, we remember moments."

I ended up double matting and, because my son wanted to help and bumped me while I was trimming the one mat - I had to add the trim.

I'm going to add a dark purple voltive candle and burn it about half way down inside - and hopefully, force it to drip. And then I'm getting a silver name tag with her name engraved on it tomorrow and add that to the front. That way, if he has her cremated, her ashes can fit in the box, if he choses to put them there.
