1  Hand Drawn & Painted Pendants! (Tentacles!! Rainbows! Trees!) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Fabric on: September 29, 2008 12:10:19 AM
Hi Guys,
I just finished these watercolored pendants and was really pleased with them so I wanted to share!

Octopus (2x2 inches):

Nautilus (1.5x1.5 inches):

TOTALLY RAD diamond and rainbows (1.5x2.5 inches):

Evergreen (1x2 inches):

These took so much time to make, but I love them!!
They are so therapeutic to make, too. It's so satisfying to get my hands busy after a long day back in front of a computer!!

Each is sealed with a coat of clear lacquer to keep the colors bright and help make them a little more water resistant.

Thanks for looking, sweet dreams :-)

2  Brass wire wrap rings (edit: More! Pictures!) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Fabric on: July 25, 2008 10:43:18 PM
I'm learning to make wire rings!

This one's made with czech glass flowers and seed beads

this one's got a glass bead in the middle and a swarovski head pin, wrapped in a piece of natural brass filigree:

Both are made with 18 and 22 gauge brass artistic wire
(I want/need a ring mandrel!!)

What do you think?

ETA: more! pictures!

katie- these aren't QUITE the iconic sparrow, but they're sterling, and kind of close:

4  Swallows and Swarovski (new, prettier pictures!) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Fabric on: July 13, 2008 12:43:06 AM

This is my first time working with crystals- I actually kind of like it, especially toned down by the vintage brass components.
It's still really sparkly, but a little less BLING

5  Domino Pendants ("amazing glaze" is actually amazing!) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Fabric on: July 06, 2008 08:25:49 PM

My first shot at domino pendants.
Made with "amazing glaze" (again, yes, corny) on the flat backs of dominos.
So much faster/less smelly/less messy/less bubbly than epoxy resin... I think I might be a convert.

I LOVE THE NURSE STAMP! She's sanitizing a spoon over a candle flame? 4 cents? Amazing. I got something off ebay once (a 70s pin with a holographic finish that says "may the force be with you," if you must know) and it arrived in a manilla envelope COVERED in these 4 cent stickers (and one celebrating Australia's bicentennial in 1988). The "media" stamp is also from that envelope. The rest are from wrapping paper or stationary.

Haven't put bails on them yet- will probably drill the tops and glue in sterling wire loops, when I have the chance to pull out the rotary tool.

ETA: Amazing glaze is this powdery stuff that you put in the oven for 5 or so minutes and it melts into a clear resin-like coat.

There's a tutorial here:
and here's a link to the product directly:

6  Re: Make-A-Friend Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Fabric on: July 03, 2008 04:08:24 PM
Calluna received! (I sent so late, school was totally overwhelming for a while there)

Here's what I sent! The theme is "Supplies for an adventure"

1. Vegan Dreamer Food (Chocolate Spice Cookie Mix) to cook up anywhere along the road

2. Exotic Supply Box

-Clues and Artifacts (collection bag), full of little hints and treasures (but with room for more!)
-Directional Orientation Device (compass)
-FIRE (strike anywhere matches)
-a button that says "you are loved" in russian
-Pendant of Light (a glowstick necklace)
-Record and Remember (crayons and water colors)

3. Owl and Squirrel stamps, kind of in the vein of letterboxing

4. ATC set 1: Metamorphosis

a) pearl/egg, b) caterpillar, c) cocoon (made from yarn from the spinning kit she sent me Smiley, d) watercolor butterfly

5. ATC set 2: Then and Now.

a) city vs country, b) bikes vs brains, c) traditional vs digital, d) old lingo vs new lingo

This has been such a great swap! Thank you for making me a friend, Calluna! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

7  Re: classy Victorian "Filthy" necklace + wood disk necklace/ring in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Fabric on: June 29, 2008 09:50:25 PM
Thank you all!

I wore the filthy necklace to the pride parade today (which was AMAZING!)
it went well with my rainbow bikini! Wink

[Pictures from the parade/after party (it was huge! the whole seattle center fountain was like a water rave haha) are on my flickr: http://flickr.com/photos/fabric/]

poppies- man, it IS hot here all of a sudden! I love it though, the hotter the better! (Some day I'd like to herd camels in the sahara, I guess I'm nuts)

8  classy Victorian "Filthy" necklace + wood disk necklace/ring in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Fabric on: June 28, 2008 01:50:32 PM
(I figure this'll either be as hilarious to everyone else as it is to me, or it'll be a total miss... so I'll include something extra at the end to make up for the potential humor let down just in case)

some friends of mine have taken to saying "filthy" instead of neat/cool/sick
which really cracks me up
the thought of making a fancy brass victorian-chain-letter necklace that says "filthy"... I just had to..

Ok so in case that actually sucks and I just need to sleep more or get more sun or something, here's something else I made, too:

Necklace and ring made from dyed wood disks and wire.

(Pardon my sunburn [Seattle's finally sunny!!])

9  round corners, my new love (loads of pics) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Fabric on: May 27, 2008 07:06:14 PM
It's crunch time at school and i've been nearly intravenously connected to the computer for days.. so what do i do when i take a break? post on crafster of course.. siiiiiigh

Here are some photos i've been working on in post during my long render times at the lab.

I've fallen in love with round corners. It's true love.

(aw, they're much cooler when the white parts are transparent.. they turned white here cause i saved em as jpgs for the internet. You can see them on white here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2269694&l=14f27&id=10706093.

wrist cuff

filigree necklace (the little owl on the bead is a vintage stamp on metal)

tiny paper hand made/hand drawn box for the neckace

Owl pouch (made out of two pockets from a wool jacket and wool scraps. I felt pretty clever after this one haha)
