41  Re: Make Me a Scarf Swap 2 in The Swap Gallery by lelila on: November 14, 2006 09:20:41 AM
SCARF!  Woo!!!

Action shot: that's my roommate's (Merliquin here on the boards) chair Edward.

Closeup to show stitch.  I've never seen crochet other than single chain stitch or whatever, so I was impressed!

She also sent me a load of my favorite candies!!  *dances*

42  textured/lacy Noro scarflette in Knitting: Completed Projects by lelila on: November 04, 2006 10:33:45 AM
I've wanted a skein of Noro for ages... I ran into some kureyon at my LYS, and I could no longer resist  Grin  So... here's what I did with it!  Just one skein.

All the pretty colors!  Though I found the lime green & pink a little... out of place:

My pattern.  It's moss st on the sides, sime kind of a lacy rib in the middle.  I forget what the stitch is called, and I don't know where our stitch bible is:

Aaand, obligitory "action" shot!  It's kind of short, but that's why it's a scarflette and not a scarf, right?:

Ta daa!  I like it lots.  Now I'm off to condition-er it, so it's not all sckritchity...

43  lime green half-circle ankle-length skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lelila on: March 27, 2006 02:49:03 PM
I <3 my new skirt!

Action shot!

I put ziggity-zag stitching on the bottom hem-

I used this tutorial to make it.

Yay for the violently-green skirt!  It's linen.

Edit: Fixed the link.  Also, this is my first sewing project!

44  Re: Windy City Scarf instructions confusion! in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by lelila on: March 27, 2006 07:41:45 AM
Wait... really?  That's not what I did when I made this scarf.  Let me see if I can explain this well... I'm not very good at explinations.   Roll Eyes  Ok, so what I did was I wound a little, second ball of yarn using the end I wasn't knitting with, then... uh.  Maybe I should draw a picture.

Does that make any sense?  So I was knitting both halves at the same time, but they stayed seperate because I had two balls of yarn.

45  Mike Nesmith "Woolhat"! (Img Heavy) in Knitting: Completed Projects by lelila on: March 24, 2006 07:24:08 AM

TA DAA!!  Let me tell you, this sucker was a long time in the making.  I'm so proud though!  I've never really made up my own pattern before, so I had to frog it like fifty million times.  I've also never actually completed a hat before. w00t.  Sorry the pictures are a little blurry, it's hard to take your own picture in the mirror with one arm in a sling.

As you can see, the gague on this one is a LOT bigger than the real woolhat... I think the button part is bigger too, it's just all a little bit exaggerated.  I like it.  <3

46  Re: Mike Nesmith Stencil! [Image Heavy] in Stenciling: Completed Projects by lelila on: February 04, 2006 11:56:27 AM
Ok, so I tried it with the freezer paper method, and it turned out MUCH better.  A lot more detail.  <3!

This one shows the color a lot better, too.

47  Mike Nesmith Stencil! [Image Heavy] in Stenciling: Completed Projects by lelila on: February 03, 2006 06:48:44 PM
I used this tutorial to make my first stencil!

I did it onto a scrap of t-shirt fabric, then roughly stitched it on a black shirt I had.  It's kinda messy, but I like it.  This is the original picture I used:

Mmm... he's so pretty.  Grin  *ahem* Anyway, yay for my first stencil!  I want to try it again with the freezer paper method, because I lost a lot of detail with the other way.  Huzzah!

48  Duct Tape Spike Cuff in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lelila on: January 30, 2006 04:42:18 PM

Ta daa!  I got bored the other night, and there was a roll of duct tape sitting next to me, crying for attention.  I got those little spikeys at Hot Topic a few months ago and I've been looking for something to do with them.  The whole cuff is only made of duct tape,  and it closes with a buckle I cut off my boots a while ago.

See?  Buckle!  It was a tiny bit tricky to get it on, but not really.

And there's the whole thing.  I <3 it!  Grin

I just now noticed I did a horrid job sewing in the end of my yarn, look at it sticking out!  Lips sealed

50  Ribbon Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lelila on: January 21, 2006 07:35:51 AM
Last night I was a Michael's, and I found these adorable little old-fashioned key charms, 6 for $2!  How could I resist?  When I got home last night, I stared at my little keys, waiting for them to tell me what to make with them.  Then one of them suddenly burst out, "Me!  I'm a necklace!"

Well, I don't have very many short chains for putting charms on.  Usually I'll just tie them around my neck with some ribbon, but I tie a knot because otherwise it comes undone and falls off.  This wastes lots of ribbon, because then I have to cut it off when I'm done with it.  So, being the clever child I am, I found some little rings, and tied the ribbon to them, then attached a little lobster-claw clippie from an old necklace I hated.  And, ta daa!  My cute new ribbon necklace!  Grin
