1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Frankenstein laptop sleeve on: March 08, 2006 09:07:11 AM
I got to spend a lot of "quality time" at the laundromat last night (this means i waited way too long and had a crapload of laundry to do last night).  I am currently knee-deep in the Amazing Hoodie Swap but unfortunately my partner sent me a white hoodie and theres no way in hell i'm traveling anywhere with it, specially a sticky floored, lint-eriffic laundromat.  I mean can you imagine the horror of dropping a white hoodie on a laundromat floor?!  Long story short, i made a laptop sleeve for my iBook.
I was inspired after reading this thread for the thousandth time:

So umm yea...here's my rad new laptop sleeve featuring the one and only dapper Frankenstein!  I used a stencil that i made a few months ago.  I'd like to add some text to the darker contrasting fabric, i just can't figure out what?  "fire bad?" or "frankly i rock?" haha

zipper!  yea i'm not that rad that i could accomplish all this in that little time.  i just revamped a plain black laptop sleeve.  see all the pretty stitches?  haha i wanted them to be kinda frankenstein-ish.

what do you think?
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / sock monkey love on: December 22, 2005 09:44:45 AM
i had to drop my kids off at my dad's house in hawaii for winter break.  public schools out here in cali got 3 weeks off from school this year!  being a single mom/full-time employee..i had no place for them to go and only a handful of vacation days.  i felt horrible leaving my kids so i decided to make my first ever sock monkeys to leave with them.
i told them that i thought of them the entire time i made the monkeys and a piece of me got sewn up with them.  everytime they need to hug me, they can hug their monkeys.  my kids loved them (they are 6 and 7 yrs old.)
i'd like to introduce you all to June and J.R....

I probably should have realized that black thread wasnt a good idea for the white/pink socks...live and learn. J.R. (black monkey) was sewn entirely by hand thanks to a lack of sewing machine at my dad's house.  I had started June (pink) at my house before we left.  Lazy eye and awkward limbs aside...they actually didnt turn out so bad.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / **QUESTION** protecting paint on purses on: September 15, 2005 03:55:30 PM

i've been painting on my purses like crazy and now my friends want one.
problem is, i've never correctly protected the paint.
i never really cared. i dont want to give my friends a bogus gift though.

so what do i use to coat the purses (usually crappy old vinyl purses and acrylic paints) to protect the paint?

im going to get nailed by my boss for being on craftster right now.  if this topic has already been covered, just point me in the right direction..please and thank you!!
