2  Mermaid -tastic Costume in Halloween Costumes by mento_bug on: November 17, 2008 11:40:41 AM
So I've wanted to be a mermaid for ages but i always wanted to wear it to school since i wouldn't be doing much else in it besides trick or treating.  But this was the year...

It is based on a bra and large white polyester skirt from goodwill and then with nets, necklaces, shells, dye, lace "seaweed" and lots of sequins it became my mermaid dream

joker and i front view

another full shot, can you see the sheeshell in my hair? the back is full of them

the back is "tied in a bow with seaweed (aka lace dyed green) and is plastered in sequin scales, i have not back shots so i may add one later, but the side is kind of shown in these next few photos

a random bleeker at the bus stop...

glitter, my shell necklace, and Jesus looming over my shoulder

I was a voodoo doll.  I used a pattern for the bodice and a bit of the sleeves but the bottom I basically winged and I also had a line it, which the pattern didn't call for, since burlap isn't exactly the softest fabric!

my post with more pictures and detail

4  Vintage Voodoo Doll Costume (img. heavy) in Halloween Costumes by mento_bug on: December 31, 2007 02:17:46 PM
I was inspired by this dress (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=146186.0) a couple years ago, and in my quest for another awesome halloween costume I came up with the idea of voodoo doll.  Although that sounds kind of ugly and uninteresting, I mixed it with a vintage 40's sort of look for a somewhat sexy voodoo doll like appearance!

dying from a broken heart (or something)

best normal full body shot I have

the pins where made of coat hangers and Styrofoam balls, held in place by my little heart pocket

makeup shot, mind you this is in photography class after a day of school so it's all kinda worn off a bit

Last shot just because I like it

6  Re: Infinity Dress in Designer Clothing Homage by mento_bug on: September 18, 2006 07:48:38 AM
ok so here's me modeling my dress in the band room after a long school day.  i wore a cami underneath and did the more modest shoulder covering tie so it would be school appropriate.  It also fit that days theme of school color purple and gold!! i want to  make another in a different color, but i have trouble finding fabric.

7  black and white polka dot dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by mento_bug on: August 20, 2006 02:37:03 PM
i made this from one of my mom's old 90's school teacher bag dresses.  the fabric is kinda weird and shower curtain ish but oh well it's still one of my favorite Revamp projects! btw we were at the movies seeing the devil wears prada and  my friends sister was making fun of my massive clothing collection and commented something along the lines of my dress being designer!!!

this ones a little darker but gives you a better idea of the length

8  the pacman gang (halloween costumes!) in Halloween Costumes by mento_bug on: August 20, 2006 02:30:27 PM
so here is what my friends and i were for halloween this year, everyone loved it, and it was a great way to include everyone (boyfriend who was a little old for trick or treating & best girl friends)
this is mid trick or treat so we're a little crazy but it's all good.  I based this of another crafsters amazing post so i don't mean to take credit.

9  my magazine purse. I <3 it in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by mento_bug on: August 20, 2006 02:25:06 PM
so i made this a while ago with a magazine and some packing tape.  i followed the idea of another craftster on here, but i love the shape/size of mine.  It took way longer than i thought it would but i think it's way worth it.  People always ask me where i got it and many think it's from old navy due to an old nazy ad i used in it!
