11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Penpals Take Two on: April 30, 2006 08:18:57 AM
Ohhh, Pen PALS! LOVE IT!
Hi, I'm Jayme, a twentyfive year old stay at home mom and Emergency Medical Technician (still have to pass part of a board, next month) and Driver for the local ambulance service in my small town. I live in a small town in Kansas with my husband of nearly four years and my kids, Riley who is four and Ashton who is two.
I LOVE to do crafts, although sometimes I get stuck on them. My favorites are knitting (it has to be quick gratification, I can't do anything that takes fooorever) and card making. I have TONS of cards that I've made and nobody to send them too or that would appricate the work that goes into them with out just tossing them in the trash after they've read them.
I'm looking for anybody with similar intrests/lifestyles as mine. I would love to get feedback/ ideas/ and to just talk to anybody out there. I am willing to have a pen pal from a different country, infact, I think it would be great! Drop me a line!
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: No! I won't make/fix/sew/knit your....!! on: April 30, 2006 08:06:48 AM
Wokeupafraud- that is a great post! I'm going to have to read it at some point!

introducing people to stich witchery and fabric glue may be a  rockin' option! I doubt that people around here have any idea how much alterations run nor would they be willing to pay for them. Ha. I may just have to suggest a tailor to them or start charing! That would definatly supplement my grad student stipend.

I think that I am willing to help the last person who asked fix her pants, fix the project that I am working on and then stop. I'm considering having one day a month be craft day where everyone can bring their crafty projects and help each other. That shares the knowledge and stops putting me in the spotlight. If not, they are going to owe me...i'm thinking brownies or dinner! yum! I'm willing to swap food for sewing skills.

Thanks for the advice and info !

That sounds like an awesome idea!
13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: just how basic is "beginner" level? on: April 30, 2006 08:04:00 AM
I agree with Cutie. Maybe you fan find or draw out a basic pattern for them and show them how to alter/ fit the pattern to themselves as needed to give it a one of a kind fit. That might be easier.

18  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: First post, may as well be a botch! on: March 07, 2006 04:30:56 PM
This is nothing like the time he cracked (with his teeth) a 16oz jar of BLACK procion dye powder all over the livingroom, then knocked over the dustpan and bucket I was using to *very carefully* clean up the uber-strong grains of dye... The furniture, oriental rug, and freshly installed unfinished wood front door and frame were never the same, and he was a goth puppy for weeks after (lucky me, he had rolled in the wet fixer solution puddles on the bathroom floor). That one cost me a hefty security deposit and a trip to the vet! How that dog has escaped becoming BBQ is beyond me...

Oh - I knew the vacuum trick (longtime klutz crafter!) it's just that the bulk of the beads went down the vent beyond the reach of girl or machine...

sigh... I'll just look on it as a reason to craftshop next payday - that project (a beaded recon bustier) has been going on a year or more with it's own litany of botches, I could use a trip to the store for inspiration, every cloud has an embellished lining and all that Wink

If it makes you feel better, my husband lost his WEDDING ring down the vent once because he was twriling it on the table. I was PISSED. His uncle had to crawl under the house to take the vents apart to find it.  They now have a screen on that particular vent in his Grandmas house. Luckily, my dog knows to stay away from my stuff
