3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitpicks has needles?! on: July 07, 2006 11:45:40 AM
oooo!  I so want the interchangeable set!  I have the Needlemaster set and I HATE it!  The cables are horrible and come unscrewed constantly.  When I try to tighten them, they end up flaring out the threads...I am currently scheming my way to finding an extra $50!
haha arent we all?
im going to wait till the initial orders are sent out and that darn 7-14 waiting period goes away. im quite impatient. but when you have no money, patience is all you have.

I just ordered the set based on those lovely pointy tips (haven't received them yet).  I love slippery metal needles, but Addis are too blunt for me.  The Knitpicks needles definitely can be used for magic loop.  For the interchangeables, they sell cables in 40", 47", and 60" lengths.  The fixed circulars (sizes 0, 1, 2, 3) only go up to 32", so those that prefer at least 40" for ML might be disappointed.

Also, Denise sells 40" and 52" cords, so those needles can be used for ML as well if the thick cord doesn't bother you.
i definitely agree with you about addis. i love that cord but darn, are those points not pointy!

unfortunatly im low on funds as most students are so it'll be a while till i actually get my hands on them. please review when you get them!

6  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Orangina a-long on: June 14, 2006 02:09:01 PM
i finished last sat. i was getting a bit bored with the ribbing so i cut it at 4', should have done the recommended '5' for the small size. i blocked it but the cotton is so dense, that it started to mildew before it dried completely. how disgusting. its rained all last week in NYC. so now I'm debating wether i should just toss my orangina into the washing machine and machine dry it.
i used Webs 3/2 Perle cotton. has anyone machine washed and dried it?

I have frogged this FIVE times. If I screw up this time beyond repair...it just wasn't meant to be. I think I'm just too spacey for lacey.
me too! ive frogged about 3 times already. but my orangina is finally taking shape. im using stitch markers for every repeat. it helps so much.

after trying for two times to order the recommended rowan, i gave in and found a substitute.
Webs offers a snappy sport weight cotton and for a whole pound its only 16 bucks.
ill be casting on as soon as the yarn arrives. im so excited.
