11  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Question about iron-on vinyl on: May 11, 2007 12:18:14 PM
I have a question about iron-on vinyl.  I'm thinking about using this on some cute fabrics and making some baby bibs.

Would the finished product be machine-washable?  Or only wipeable?

Any of you that have used this, do you have any idea?

Those are awesome!  As is everything else in your blog and your pic collection too.  You have an amazing eye and so much talent!
13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Golden Asian Silk handbag on: May 05, 2007 01:38:17 PM
This was a custom order.  Usually I don't use prefab handles - they're such a pain!  But I think it turned out pretty good.  The inside is black and has a divided patch pocket on one side, and a zipper pocket on the other side.  Both pockets are made out of the outer gold fabric.  Oh and the outer is 100% silk.  Smiley  Magnetic snap closure.

My original plan was to have the pagoda scene be the front, but I really liked how the trees and the bird looked, so I used that as the front.  What do you think?

I don't embroider, but this looks pretty simple:

There's a quick explanation at the bottom of the post, especially helpful if you know what the different stitches are.

16  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Do Not Use VISTA PRINT on: April 30, 2007 02:10:48 PM
I've ordered from Vista Print 4 separate times now and have NEVER received a phone call.  I also got the "$10 back" but then cancelled the service before the monthly charge came due.

I will not stop using Vista Print at this point, they have never wronged me.

How about the corners?  how does the divider catch in the corners?  I couldn't understand from your explanation.

Love love love the fabric!  It is very beautiful.  The whole thing looks fantastic!

So as I'm understanding your explanation, is the bottom of the divider not attached to the bottom of the lining?  Or do you catch the bottom of the divider in the seam along the bottom of the lining?
19  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: baby showe help!!! on: April 26, 2007 03:54:41 PM
Personally, I would not ask guests to bring food.  Guests are guests, they are not supposed to provide the party.  Hosts provide the party, and this includes the food.

But you can recoup your cost here by not providing favors.  I tend to think of favors as completely optional.  People always talk about favors, and I admit I gave some out at my wedding, but I've never actually attended a shower where favors were given out.  Plenty a wedding, but never a shower, bridal or baby.
20  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: O rings?? on: April 25, 2007 09:20:28 PM
Here are some on ebay.  I've had great success with this seller:

But I usually get my o-rings from thrifted purses - it's usually cheaper that way, especially when the 1/2 of 1/2 store puts them on clearance for $0.99.  Smiley
