1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Regina Scarf on: August 17, 2010 06:55:15 PM

Pattern courtesy of smariek - she has so many beautiful (and free) patterns on her site! Thank you smariek!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / His and hers cabled hats on: September 29, 2009 06:22:55 PM

For my host parents in Tokyo, who I will be visiting this fall after 8 years. I lived with them for my senior year in college, and it gets very cold there in the winter!

Knitted in Vanna's Choice on size 9 circs.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Christmas scarf on: August 30, 2009 09:05:15 AM
It's my Christmas scarf because I started it on Christmas day, and finally finished it last week:

Knitted with four skeins of Vanna's Choice (got all four for about $5!). I made up the pattern as I went along.
4  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival - September 25-27, 2009 - Volunteers needed on: August 25, 2009 06:38:14 PM
Hi everyone!

The Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival will be September 26-27, with workshops September 25-27. It's held at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds in Canby, and features everything fiber-related - from livestock (alpaca, goats, bunnies, and of course sheep) to roving to yarn to finished knitted products. It's really amazing - even my dad was impressed Smiley

They're looking for volunteers for everything from sales to guarding the wool, so if you'd like to lend a hand please call Kristi Gustafson at (503) 663-2772.

I'll be working the wool sale, so if you're there Saturday afternoon please stop by and say hi!

See you there,
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first sock - thank god I don't have to knit another! on: December 21, 2008 07:47:25 PM
I don't think socks are going to be my thing:

I knit this stocking for my boyfriend, and it's so big and goofy looking!  Plus now that it's stuffed, it's too heavy for the hook so it's really just sitting on the shelf.  I used good old Red Heart Super Saver, and winged the pattern.  From top to heel is about 15 inches.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Cabled scarf on: December 20, 2008 01:19:32 PM

Not terribly exciting, but I was excited to figure out how to knit cables with purled spaces in them.  I knit the scarf using Vanna's Choice in Eggplant (it's a bit warmer purple than it looks in the picture) using 9's, and it came out to just about 2 skeins.  It's a Christmas gift for my cousin, who is a freshman in college in Minnesota - I figure an extra scarf won't hurt her Smiley
7  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / Crafting Day at Gresham Library! ***CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER*** on: November 29, 2008 04:09:11 PM
***The libraries are now closed for today.  See you January 3rd!***

Hi folks,

I've reserved the large meeting room at Gresham Library on Saturday, Dec. 20th from 10:00 am to 5:45 pm.  Bring whatever project(s) you're working on, and maybe some snacks to share!  It'll mostly be folks from my work (Gresham City Hall), but the event is open to the public and all are welcome.

If you haven't been to Gresham Library, it's at 385 N.W. Miller Avenue, Gresham, OR 97030.  There will be tables and chairs in the room, but their tables are only about 1x4, so if you need lots of table space you might want to bring something larger.  There are plenty of outlets around the room for laptops and sewing machines Smiley  Joann and Craft Warehouse are also within walking distance.

Hope to see you there!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Dollar Store Shawl on: November 14, 2008 06:27:58 PM

About 60" across the top, knit from this Lion Brand pattern using 3+ balls of Paton's Divine that I got at THE DOLLAR STORE!!! Hooray for bargains!!!  (I bought 10 skeins, now to figure out what to do with the rest!)

It's quite fluffy and warm, and is going to my great-aunt who lives on the Oregon coast Smiley
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / DNA Scarf on: August 30, 2008 09:29:53 PM
I made a DNA scarf, using some Lion Cashmere Blend I got for 65% off, and this cable pattern: http://www.twosheep.com/helix/Helix5.pdf

I started it last fall when I was feeling very unhappy, and put it down for almost a year.  Now I'm quite happy and quite finished, and planning on giving it to the new boyfriend for his birthday Smiley  I bought 6 balls of yarn and only used 4 for the scarf, so I think he's going to get a matching hat as well!
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / My ER paperwork actually lists "sewing accident" as my cause of injury. on: June 20, 2008 12:43:20 PM
So I decided to make a purse last night for a friend's birthday.  I was cutting my fabric with a rotary cutter, when it ran up over the plastic guide and into my index finger.  Didn't really feel it, but man was it ugly!  It wasn't a deep cut - just sort of had a flap of skin hanging loose - so they taped it up, gave me a tetanus shot, and sent me home.  My first major crafting injury!

The good news is, I didn't bleed on the fabric, so when I no longer feel scared of the rotary cutter (it's still lying where I dropped it) I can finish the purse.  My friend will understand why it's late Smiley
