31  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / I never thought I'd like quilting... on: February 21, 2007 06:03:39 AM
but I gave it a try.

Here is a quilt and a matching pillow which were christmas presents for my husband. (I finished it just in time on christmas eve Wink)

I had to improvise a little, because quilting is not very common in Germany. There are fabric stores that are mainly selling quilting supplies but almost everything you can get there is imported and extremely expensive.  I ordered the fabric online and used fleece blankets as backing. My husband loves fleece. Plus, I needed no batting.

Well, I have to admit: Quilting is fun and I have the next two projects allready planned. I just wish I had the time to get started.

Hope you like it!
32  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / gift for neighbors + their new baby on: August 10, 2006 04:42:55 PM
Our neighbors will have a baby soon (end of september) and I really don't know what to give them.

The problem is that the new baby is going to be a boy and they allready have a two year old son. So, they propably have everything you need for a baby (clothes, diaper bag, ...)

Please help me with unusual ideas!

Thanks a lot!!
33  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Piggy bag on: July 25, 2006 12:31:26 PM
Here is a bag that I made for a friend. I needed a gift for her and I wanted it to be something personal. She told me that green is her favorite color and I know that she loves pigs. It's hard to find anything pig-ish that she doesn't allready have. The pig is my very first applique and I used seaofstars' tutorial.

34  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Bookends on: July 23, 2006 04:18:02 AM
I made some bookends for my dad because he reads alot. The only problem is that there is no room for bookends between all his books. I didn't realize that before i gave them to him. Well, he still likes them!

36  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / New to embroidery - need advice! on: January 21, 2006 03:40:50 AM
I just started embroidering and i only did satin stitch and split stitch so far.
For my next project i want to fill in some larger areas and figured out that i should use long-and-short stitch instead of satin stitch.

When i use satin stitch i outline the areas with split stitch first. Should i do the same when i'm using long-and-short stitch.
Since it is going to be a birthday present for my husband i really want it to look nice.

40  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / my new project - a coat - What color would you use? on: October 28, 2005 10:38:06 AM
my next sewing project is going to be a coat.

I don't have a pattern yet, but I think I'm going to make it myself or alter one I have.

I want it to be  black, knee-length and with a hood.

And I thought I could use different-colored lining.
Maybe bright blue.
One could see it all the time in the hood.

Do you think that would look good at all?
What color would you use?
