1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Matchbox Car Racetrack on: October 25, 2014 03:07:08 PM
Hi everyone,

I like to share with you my latest woodworking project. It's a speedway for matchbox cars.

The racetrack was cut into a sheet of plywood and then glued on top of another one.

You can steer the cars using the two handles to tilt the track.

it's mounted on a camera tripod swivel head:

I made it for my little ones birthday party and it was a great success.

Hope you like it.
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Bunk Beds with stairs on: March 31, 2013 08:17:29 AM
After a week of working on it every night and very little sleep I finished the bunk beds for my sons.

Because they share a long and narrow room I wanted something narrower than the standard twin bunk bed.

I took the basic measurements from this Ikea bed and build the whole thing from scratch:

Because 'A' said he preferred stairs I took the trofast shelves we already had and added rails:

I also added a gate because I don't want them to play on the top bunk and to keep my 18 mo climbing up there.

Hope you like it.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Boy's boxer briefs - Pattern testers needed! on: September 21, 2012 01:37:31 PM
This is the first pair of boxer briefs I made for my 3yo after a self drafted pattern:

I somehow forgot to add hem allowance to the legs and they turned out a lot shorter than I intended but the fit is quite good and there are more to come.

Right now I'm working on a multisize pattern (size 2 to 5). Is anyone interested in testing it in one of those sizes?
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Convertible Kid's Furniture on: September 21, 2012 01:25:15 PM
I made these for my son when he was about 2 years old:

Depending on how you put them together they can serve as chairs with different sitting heights, as a chair and a table or as a shelf.

I made them completely from scratch and took the measurements from similar designs I found online.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Boy's boxer briefs pattern - Anyone interested?? on: July 29, 2012 02:55:26 PM
Hey everyone,

I just drafted a boxer briefs pattern for my son. It's size 3/4.
I'm thinking about making it into a multisize pattern, maybe up to size 7 or 8.

I don't have much experience with that but I'd like to try. Since I don't have older kids I'd need some pattern testers for the larger sizes.

Is anyone interested? What size would you want?
6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / T-shirts designed by my son! on: March 28, 2012 01:28:58 PM
A while ago my 3yo asked me to make him a train t-shirt and when I asked him what we should get for his best friends birthday the train t-shirt came up again. I never mind being asked for handmade gifts and my son and I started working.

He picked out the shirts and I designed a stencil. I made a pdf out of it and sent it to the mods to upload it in case anyone would like to use it.

We then colored the trains together and when "A" was happy with the design I airbrushed the trains on white cotton knit and appliqued them onto the shirts.

On to the pictures:

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / DeStash your favorite craft! on: January 05, 2012 03:59:53 AM
Is anyone up for yet an other DeStash-along?

I bet there are a lot of other people like me who are building up massive stashes of supplies for various crafts. But as sewing is my all time favorite craft, fabric is taking over my whole craft room and I'm adding to that stash way faster than I could ever sew. And I feel that the other destash-along just doesn't fit my needs.

Here is my idea for anyone who likes to join:

1. Introduce you and your favorite craft and post a picture of your stash

2. Think of a project and post a pic of the supplies needed

3. Set a date by which you want to finish it

4. Post pics of the finished item or a link to the  project post.

6. Don't add to your stash until it fits into the area assigned to it! (Example: I have two shelves and two scrap boxes for my fabric collection but right now I have several more boxes and bags filled with fabric sitting in my craft room.)

So, who is up for it?
8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Hoodies and BackPacks on: January 01, 2012 02:57:15 PM
Smiley Happy New Year, everyone! Smiley

I want to share some fleece hoodies and backpacks I made for the sons of a good friend.

The hood is lined with the same  fabric as the backpack. One boy got a green backpack with a blue hoodie and the other one the blue backpack with the green hoodie.

The hoodies are made from a burda pattern.
The pattern for the backpacks is my own. They have one large main compartment and an outside pocket behind the picture panel.

What do you think?
9  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Boy Clothes Sewalong on: August 11, 2011 05:32:33 AM

The "Clothing for Kids" board is allways packed with cute little dresses, adorable outfits and accessories for girls.

But having a two year old boy and expecting DS#2 in September I don't have the need to make dresses. I'm constantly looking for patterns, ideas and inspiration for boy clothes.

It can't be only me!

Who wants to join me in a boy clothes sewalong?
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Azalea Nursing Dress on: October 21, 2010 01:43:19 PM
When my son was about four month old we attended a friends wedding and I needed something to wear that allowed breast feeding.
At first thought it would save me some time to buy a dress and alter it, but after an unsuccessful afternoon downtown I decided to spend the night sewing.

I never buy dresses anyway.

On to the pictures:

It's burdastyle's Azalea dress made into a nursing dress.

You could even cover a tiny baby with the shear top layer while nursing.

Hope you like it!
