11  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: My Crafty Boy's First Sewing Project - Pac Man Ghost on: July 30, 2013 02:20:02 AM
That's great! how old is he?
If he plans to do an other one let him use the sewing machine. My son made aprons for several family members last Christmas and I pinned the fabric with safety pins and drew clearly visible sewing lines on the fabric.
He had a blast using the machine. I did help guiding the fabric occasionally but most of the time he managed to sew close to the line. Just make sure he's not tired and stays focused.
My boy gets easily distracted by technical stuff and it's better to use a really simple sewing machine. Otherwise he tries to figure out what the different buttons do while he's sewing.

Great work! I love it! The dark blue star fabric is just perfect.

That's an amazing idea. I bet I would use my dress form a lot more often if it wasn't for the snagging. And it looks a lot better, too.

That crack in the wall is a great idea. I wonder if there is glow in the dark vinyl to cut. I'd like to make a double layer crack with a glowing edge

Yesterday I received from geekgirl1000100.

Group shot:

Martha's tam from the episode "Human Nature", a dalek hoop, a key ring with rivers journal and some cookies.

Close ups:

Thank you so much, geekgirl! I love everthing especially the hat. Too bad it's getting warmer. It's a shame it has to sit in the closet until fall. It fits perfectly.

I'm glad you like it. And I'm also glad everything made it to you safely. I had some bad experiences with sending fragile goods on international journeys.
