1  Matchbox Car Racetrack in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by silk81 on: October 25, 2014 03:07:08 PM
Hi everyone,

I like to share with you my latest woodworking project. It's a speedway for matchbox cars.

The racetrack was cut into a sheet of plywood and then glued on top of another one.

You can steer the cars using the two handles to tilt the track.

it's mounted on a camera tripod swivel head:

I made it for my little ones birthday party and it was a great success.

Hope you like it.

Yesterday I received from geekgirl1000100.

Group shot:

Martha's tam from the episode "Human Nature", a dalek hoop, a key ring with rivers journal and some cookies.

Close ups:

Thank you so much, geekgirl! I love everthing especially the hat. Too bad it's getting warmer. It's a shame it has to sit in the closet until fall. It fits perfectly.

3  Bunk Beds with stairs in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by silk81 on: March 31, 2013 08:17:29 AM
After a week of working on it every night and very little sleep I finished the bunk beds for my sons.

Because they share a long and narrow room I wanted something narrower than the standard twin bunk bed.

I took the basic measurements from this Ikea bed and build the whole thing from scratch:

Because 'A' said he preferred stairs I took the trofast shelves we already had and added rails:

I also added a gate because I don't want them to play on the top bunk and to keep my 18 mo climbing up there.

Hope you like it.

Nothing big but I just finished a little cauliflower out of some Scraps I've been saving:

January Results
Last month destashing didn't turn out quite as successful as I hoped, but I decided I post an overview of my few results following the themes given for January.

Color:  white
Pattern: dots

Nothing in my stash matched these themes.
For: resolutions
My biggest (crafting) resolution this year is not to buy new fabric before I cut down my stash to two shelves. (Or if I decide that I absolutely have to buy new fabric I have to use it within two weeks.)
I made this stroller sleeping bag almost completely from stash. I just had to buy matching zippers.

Challenge 1:  It is time once again to take stock of your stash.  This means finding it all, seeing what you have, and identifying some goals for DeStashing in the coming year.
Here are pics of my current stash:

plus some smaller scraps all around the craft room. The orange box in the first picture shows the shelves that I assigned to my fabric stash. So I need to get rid of all those bags and boxes. The fabric is creeping towards my math books and who knows what kind of evolution that might start Wink
Challenge 2:  Are there any other craftalongs that will help you with your goals this year?  If so, join up and spread the love around.
I joined the 13 Quilt projects and the 12 crafty things for Me along.

Well the sleeping bag wasn't a very old WIP either. But it was the WIP that needed to be finished first.

I started it in November thinking of the winter ahead and that #2 wasn't walking yet.

Well he is running by now but thank god I got that one of my list before the winter is over.

On to the pics:

The top part unzips completely and the bottom part can be used as a seat cover on warmer days. It adds a bit of color to our boring old stroller:

9  Boy's boxer briefs - Pattern testers needed! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by silk81 on: September 21, 2012 01:37:31 PM
This is the first pair of boxer briefs I made for my 3yo after a self drafted pattern:

I somehow forgot to add hem allowance to the legs and they turned out a lot shorter than I intended but the fit is quite good and there are more to come.

Right now I'm working on a multisize pattern (size 2 to 5). Is anyone interested in testing it in one of those sizes?

10  Convertible Kid's Furniture in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by silk81 on: September 21, 2012 01:25:15 PM
I made these for my son when he was about 2 years old:

Depending on how you put them together they can serve as chairs with different sitting heights, as a chair and a table or as a shelf.

I made them completely from scratch and took the measurements from similar designs I found online.
