1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Grad Student Supprt Swap GALLERY on: November 07, 2008 07:40:42 AM
Just wanted to add to RangerBeth's post... my goodies were AMAZING. The notebook is seriously the cuddliest thing ever, and the bag inspired me to go through the massive stack of journal articles gathering dust on my end table and actually READ them, just so I could put them in the bag! My boyfriend was very jealous of the coffee holders, but since I have two, I might consider sharing.  Cheesy

Thanks, again, RB!

Ok, I'll be brave. I'm signing up.... this is my second swap ever, but I just saw the movie and definitely feel up to the challenge!
3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Birds are beautiful round 3 sign ups CLOSED sendouts extended to 11/21 on: November 04, 2008 12:53:00 PM
I'm not signed up for this swap, but I just wanted to give you all some encouragement, as I am more anxious about seeing the results of this swap than I am about seeing the results of the election!

can't wait to see all the pretty birds!

I *love* the fabric pushpins. They are so cute and cheery, I might have to make some for Christmas this year. And the bookmarks! Everyone has done such fantastic work, I am feeling swap anxiety!

I received from Rangerbeth, but have been coming home too late from work to take pictures. I will try to post my lovely goodies tonight!

Hi! Sending today due to family emergency earlier this week, but all is well! Hope my partner doesn't mind, and I hope the goodies were worth the wait!

Hi, everyone! I'm SO happy I checked the boards, as I have been toting my sewing machine and supplies on business trips and the like to meet the deadline of the 15th... and lo and behold, it's the 30th! I, too, must have experienced a brain fart Smiley

Hello, everyone! I've been following these posts enthusiastically, but have just now gotten around to introducing myself. I have to say, what a wonderful gathering of intellectual craftsters! It's really heartening to see people with similarly massive workloads making time to make things Smiley

I am finishing my Master's thesis and now gearing up to apply to PhD programs. Glutton for punishment? Probably. My degree is in Technical Communication, and my thesis examines the role of narrative vs. instructional videos in multimedia patient education programs. I'm analyzing data I gathered while user-testing a program I helped develop for teens with congenital heart disease. I currently work in industry at a software company since I'm all done with coursework. I hadn't planned on going back to school, but after working for a few years, I realized my heart is in teaching, researching, and learning... sometimes "real world" positions don't really encourage one to think analytically and develop new ways of doing things.

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: New bookshelves and a super-sweet crafting desk on: September 09, 2008 07:28:55 AM
The desk is amazing, but I'm floored by how chic the bookshelves look.  This is most definitely the nicest DIY furniture I have ever seen! Grats to your husband, and to you for helping!

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Saddam Housewarming Gift (PIC HEAVY) on: September 02, 2008 10:59:19 AM
Your needlework is amazing!

Do you take requests? It would be interesting to do a series of these, like that Dictator Fashion book.
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Pacman on: September 02, 2008 10:51:25 AM
This is so cute! Usually, I lust after Pacman-related projects but find it hard to incorporate them into my apartment. This, however, is perfect for my bookshelf, right next to my comics Smiley
