1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Hopefully this will make sense - Pattern Searching on: October 08, 2007 03:44:03 PM
I am looking for a floppy beret knitting pattern but not just a beret basically a hat that then goes into a scarf, if that makes sense. I have seen the ones in Knit 1 (the newest issue) as well as the one at Lion Brand but I want something a lot looser than that so it doesn't just look like a hat with a scarf attached.

I am trying to design one myself but so far I have frogged the beret 3 times.

Any help would be awesome

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a good free online sewing tutorial on: April 11, 2006 12:16:43 PM
I just received my first sewing machine for my birthday. It's a Kenmore Mini Ultra. I am in the process of reading the manual but my big dilemma is that I have never ever used a sewing maching before and have no one to help guide me through it. I was thinking of taking a sewing class at a local sewing center but the class doesn't start for another month Sad Any good books or websites would be greatly appreciated.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Patterns and Copyrights? on: March 30, 2006 11:35:59 AM
SO I just bought my copy of the new Vogue Knitting and towards the front is an add for Alchemy yarns with three new designs of "theirs." One is a bad copy of the Sgt Pepper Jacket which was designed by the mega talented Anna from http://www.autoscopia.com/amelia/ and the other one looks a lot like the Ibiza top from Teva Durham's Loop D Loop. I can understand that patterns aren't like books that can be copyrighted word for word but this is ridiculous that both of these very talented designers can be ripped off like this. Is there a law to prevent this?Huh This is an issue that has bothered me a lot over the last few months as I have some patterns that will be being published in a book next year and I would hate for others to profit off of my own designs.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Skull Knitting Needles on: March 02, 2006 03:14:22 PM
I just came across this site www.punkknits.com and saw their fantastic knitting needles with skulls on them. They come in size US13 and are bamboo. Very cool idea for the subversive knitter and not only that but there will be a new book called Punk Knits coming out next year to compliment the needles......

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Punk Knits - Skull Knitting Needles on: March 02, 2006 03:11:42 PM
So I was surfing the net as usual when the work day is slow looking for new designs and such and came across this and thought I would pass it on.

Not only will there be a book that finally is for the alternative knitter but also the most amazing bamboo skull knitting needles in size US 13 for sale. Can't wait to get mine......

PS Sorry about that wrong link. I just fixed it.

PPS I pray it's fixed this time
