11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Blue Birds For Baby's Room on: October 27, 2008 09:51:41 PM
My boyfriend's brother and his girlfriend are having a baby girl in a couple weeks and Andrea, the mother-to-be, asked me to embroider some blue birds for the baby's room. I used stem stitch, lazy daisy, back stitch, a tiny bit of satin stitch, french knots, and chain stitch on the one with purple flowers.

Here they are all framed and ready to go:

12  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Old Featured Projects and Interviews on: October 09, 2008 08:47:42 AM
Is there an archive for the Featured Projects and Interviews? I just noticed July and August are gone and I can't find them anywhere.
13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Elvis, baby, Elvis! on: October 04, 2008 08:53:03 AM
I made these for elvissatx for the Set of Tea Towels Swap. I used stem stitch, satin stitch, seed stitch, and a little back stitching. Her kitchen is done in bright pink, lime, and turquoise so I stuck with those colors. I was originally going to do 3 different caricatures of Elvis but they weren't feeling like a set so I went with the color variations instead.

15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Millhouse Sweatshirt on: August 27, 2008 10:17:00 AM
I've been working on this piece on and off since May. I made it for my boyfriend's birthday, although that was back in June, but hey whatever, he still crazy loves it. I took two pictures that I found doing a google image search and created this pattern. It's all done in long and short stitch on the back of a zip-up hoodie.

Just Millhouse:

His face:

His torso:

The banner:

Action shot - the hood and angle makes the design look off center, but believe me, it's centered:

I'm not technically finished with it yet. I still plan on filling in the letters with black and then putting "Everything's Coming Up Millhouse!" on the front in yellow Simpsons font. When I do that I'll update this post with new pics.
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Rooster with Jacobean Flowers on: August 27, 2008 09:59:44 AM
This is what I embroidered on my towel for the Tea Towel Tour. I love it! The flash has kind of washed out the colors a bit, but you get the idea.

This was my first time using one of those blue, water-soluble markers and I gotta say, I'm hooked! The pattern lines came off so easy and it was really nice to be able to mess up on my lines and not have to redo the entire pattern. I highly recommend that marker for anyone doing lazy daisy stitch!

P.S. Just wanted to add that I got the pattern from Needlecrafter! Smiley

- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES

Details of swap:
Who doesnt love tea towels?! For this swap we will be embroidering or cross-stitching a set of them. The minimum will be 3, but if you and your partner agree to do more thats fine, just please make sure to communicate so you both end up happy with what you receive. This will be considered one large project so the time spent should be 3+ hours.

Rules and other info for this swap:
- Once partners are assigned please post an update in this thread once a week. You dont have to write more than your crafting progress (one towel 50%) or even just checking in if you dont want to. People who post weekly are less likely to flake.

- One week before send-outs I will PM everyone to make sure everythings going okay, see if you will be sending late, etc. If you will be sending late you MUST notify both myself and your partner!

- Delivery Confirmation must be purchased unless sending out of the country in which case you must get, and keep, a receipt. Please send me a picture of your receipt if you can not do DC#s.

- When sending PMs please label them as Tea Towel with one of the following tags:

So when sending the questionnaire, the subject will read Tea Towel - Approval. When notifying me about sending and receiving packages, add the corresponding tag. If you just have a general question label it as that. This will keep things organized for me.

- I will set up a gallery once the first person has shipped. Please post pictures when your package arrives. Your partner put a lot of work into crafting for you! They deserve a little recognition! I will not leave feedback until pictures are posted. Its always a good idea to take pictures of your package before you send just in case your partner doesnt have a camera or cant post pictures for some reason.

- THERE WILL BE FEEDBACK FOR THIS SWAP! This is how it will be done:
Great swapper: for those who follow all the rules
Good/Poor communication:  where applicable
Sent late/early: where applicable
Did not follow shipping rule: failed to comply with the shipping rules
Didn't post pictures: failed to post pictures of what they received without an adequate explanation to their partner

Swappers will receive temporary negative feedback if:
- it is one week past send-outs and you are out of communication.
- it is two weeks past send-outs and you have not yet sent, regardless of the communication with me and your partner.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

What are your favorite colors?
Least favorite colors?
Anything else youd like me or your partner to know?
Details about yourself?
Allergies (pets, smoke, etc.)?
Do you live in a house with pets, smoke, etc.?
If the number of people in the swap ends up odd, would you mind being in a group of 3? Example: A sends to B, B sends to C, C sends to A

These next 2 questions are just for me and for matching purposes, I will not send them to your partner:

Are you able to commit to posting in the thread once a week, sending PMs to me and your partner as needed, and posting pictures in a timely manner?

Rate your needlework skill level on a scale of 1-10: 1 means youve never done needlework before - 10 means you can work quickly and do any stitch well.

18  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / My take on Aimee Ray's "Happy Garden" piece on: July 19, 2008 05:22:53 PM
I used colors pretty similar to Aimee's piece since the recipient really likes hers. I made one of the whole thing that's 8"x10" and two 4"x6" pieces that are cropped portions. I used a lot of chain stitch, and some stem stitch, satin stitch, running stitch, back stitch, and french knots.

19  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / May All Beings Be Happy on: July 19, 2008 05:15:26 PM
This design is from a t-shirt from this site:

I changed the smaller "heart" into a little asterisk thing. I framed this piece in a simple, black, 8"x10" frame.

20  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Set of embroidered/cross stitched tea towels swap? on: July 18, 2008 07:36:01 PM
There's been tea towel tours and a needlework swap, so I figured why not combine them into one, but you know, leave out the tour part. I'm thinking a set of 3 or 4 tea towels and I'd like to start signups somewhere near the beginning/middle of next month if that works. Anyone interested?
