i've been following this thread and just kind of caved and bought some yarn for this blanket. i'm in the middle of moving, so it might be a while before i can start, like, not until i've unpacked a few things. but it was on sale at webs! i got this yarn:
in stone blue. in one last grasp for responsibility, i had the yarn shipped to my new apartment, so i can't possibly start for a few more weeks...
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: cabled hat and scarf [with pattern!] on: September 19, 2007 03:32:28 PM
i've had this pattern bookmarked since yarnhag posted it. i made this with some 100% cotton from an unraveled sweater, holding 3 three strands of dk-ish yarn together. i'm thinking that i'll use up the rest of this yarn by knitting the scarf with it and some grey ss from my stash.

i love it! thanks for posting the pattern yarnhag!

Me again!

What caston method did everyone use?

i used the cable cast-on. the second cast-on method on this page: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/FEATsum05TT.html

i've finally caved and starting knitting one of these. I'm making a scarf width clap (two repeats of the increase section) for my gf's birthday in november. i'm using some no-name mill ends that she picked out at acmoore.

i'm a bit further along than this now and have even dropped a few stitches! but this picture really shows the colors as they are in real life.

these were super fast and easy knits (read: awesome last minute baby shower presents). fitting them into the nursery theme was just a great added bonus!
