i really like how the cables look kind of futuristic? ha... in the first picture, it looks like circuitry or a dna strand or something.

5  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Re: Painted ballet slippers. on: March 19, 2006 02:47:08 PM
so here's my two cents: there is a brand of paint intended for leather & heavier fabrics. it has really good, strong colors, & can also be watered down to stretch the paint. i used it to stencil a gold/blue skull (about 5" x 4") onto a soft, black leather mini. i heat set it with an iron & a paper towel for about twenty seconds. it's been through three good party/dancing nights (lots of bending, folding, scrunching, & getting spilled on) with absolutely no chipping or flaking. i, of course, cannot remember the name of the paint. they sell it at michael's in small jars. ANYWAY it would probably work really great for a pair of leather or canvas slippers.

okay, so, the brand might be jacquard lumiere. sorry for the ramble.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: what is this called on: March 11, 2006 08:49:24 PM
i'm pretty sure it's called a "trapper". if you decide to go the make-your-own route, vogue accesories pattern V7981 includes a hat that looks exactly like the one in your photo. i hope this helps!

maybe you could try those smaller iron-on block letters... it looks good so far!
8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: grotesque, gluttonous beasts-- handpainted on vintage plates on: March 05, 2006 08:48:08 PM
hahaha when i saw this subject line on the front page, i was a little confused 'cause i thought it said "breasts". i need to get my mind out of the gutter... anyway, these are great. i love the juxtaposition of the cutesy flower prints with the bizarro monsters. nice work.

10  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Show off your hair! And questions about hair styles! on: January 15, 2006 11:35:35 PM

wow...I love the grey actually! I've thought about doing it more of a silver before, but didn't think grey dye existed. How the hell did you find that? Or am I just not looking at all?

by the way, my purple came out looking like a color-changing hot wheels car:

excuse the dorky glasses, I didn't feel like shoving plastic up my eyelids today.

I can't decide if I like it or hate it. It'd be great if the red wasn't showing through  Undecided

oh man! that color is wonderful! is it two-tone on purpose, or just a happy accident?
