11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long on: January 22, 2007 04:53:59 AM
I finished my project for January (finally!)

I passed by the thrift store and found a horrible sweayter made of awesome yarn for about 2 and decided to make the yarn usable.

So after a couple of days of making everyone in my family go insane by asking every five minute: what can I use the yarn for? My mum yelled at me (gesh, people have no patience this days :p): make some socks!, so, me being a good daughter did them.

They're ankle-high socks, very warm and soft. My plan is to use them instead of slippers to walk around the house (though my mum will probably yell at me again and tell me to stop walking around with only my socks on).

It's crochet btw.

I have some beautiful rainbowy thread, but no idea what to do with it. I'm thinking a small purse or clutch, but it just doesn't seem right, for some reason.

At least, I still ahve one month to think about a project!
13  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Crocheted Hotpants?? on: January 06, 2007 11:21:34 AM
Why not try crocheting hotpants using the pieces from a pattern for boxers?

I made them a couple years ago (back when I still did aerobics and could pull off hot pants), and that's what I did, and they worked out great.

hats, scarves, and scrap afghans are always good to use yarn left overs. Socks are a good option too.

Also capes are kinda hot right now, and they are really fast and easy to make.
15  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: sc, not chain foundation row?!?! rant and question on: January 05, 2007 10:54:13 AM
tip for everyone (it might have been posted already, I didn't go through everything).

If you do the 1st go through one loop first and then continue with the stitch normally trick, you can do this same no-foundation-chain thing with any stitch, I just started a chal thingy all with double crochet and no foundation chain. You just have to pay attention though.
16  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Tarot ATC SWAP Round 2:Emperor/Hierophant/Lovers Send: 12/20 on: January 05, 2007 10:47:24 AM
none of the ones that I have sent have been recieved.
this is worrying me.
how long do you think I should wait before remaking and resending?  I mean they were sent either really near or right on the deadline and I was sending from australia to america, canadia and spain.

Spain would be me (I don't think there is anyone else from Spain in this swap), I got the hierophant and the emperor, still waiting for the lovers. maybe one of the ones I got is yours? I don't remember who sent them (and my mum got mad at me for having all the crafting stuf all over the house and hid everything till I study for my French exam, so I can't check who sent what).

Thanks for posting funkyflower, I have no idea what's wrong with my camera!

just wanted to say, everything is awsome. I'm wearing both, the hat, and the armwarmers all the time (even when it's warmer here now than it should be).

I think you're thinking too much.  Smiley  Most of the time, my first few rows are all corkscrewy.  It works itself out the bigger the piece gets.  If you're making the chain too tight, you can always do your chain with a hook one size bigger and then switch back to the hook you're supposed to use.  It really doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong.  Are you letting your pieces get big enough for it to flatten itself out?

it's common for projects to start out all twisty, but they flatten out after a few rows (the thinner your yarn/thread is, the more rows it will take)

Im getting worried that none of my cards are there yet  Undecided The PO is acting up on us here these holidays.

it's holidays! it's common to have problems with the post. I`ve been waiting for a package to get here since the 15th, and I know it's been lying there at the post office for some 10 days.
