1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Social Statment Knitting Blogger - any idea who I am writing about??? on: August 31, 2007 12:54:26 PM
A few months ago I read an article (can't remember where) about a blog that encourages knitting the names of big-box stores - GAP, Wal-Mart -  and other consumerism type logos - Coca-Cola into hand knitted pieces as a social statement against their use of their own logo.  I read her blog, loved it, and then bookmarked the site (or so I thought) for use when the 'perfect' idea came to me.

I got the idea last night, but no bookmark. I can't remember the site...anyone know who I am writing about?  It would be really helpful!  Thanks...
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Stretchy Stitch Question on: June 15, 2007 09:30:19 AM
I am in the middle of creating a shrug as I go and am to the back...I would like a stitch that has some stretch to it.  I think that I've been told/read that the different RIB stitches have the most elasticity...but I can't find it anywhere in my books know that I need to know.

Is this right or is there another type that has some give to it?

Thanks!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lady Eleanor and Victorian Velvet for Scraf and Wrap Style? on: June 14, 2006 06:30:59 PM
Has anybody had any luck with some yarn sub?

I can not afford 15 balls at $20 and 24 balls at $14

I want to make both, but have never subbed yarn before...I checked the one Lady Eleanor - but can't afford that yarn either  Sad

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / design your own cable on: June 11, 2006 11:24:16 AM
Anybody know how to do this?  Or know where there is some reading to do on how to?  I wanted to do the celtic knot, trinity cross - but can't find it already done...

Here is what I want to do...it seems like I could graft it out on paper and just knit on the shaded areas, but then that seems to easy...

Any ideas, oh Knitting Goddesses?

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / So mad at my yarn choice! on: April 17, 2006 10:37:51 PM
I have been waiting to start the Craftster Circ. Shrug for a month now and thought I had the PERFECT yarn...colors I love, weight I love, and cheap (mistake!).  Well I tried to start tonight - even tried it on metal, plastic, and wood needles and did not like how it felt at all.  Then I tried some different ribbing stitches, thinking it was me and the pattern not the yarn (but secretly knowing it was the yarn) and couldn't get it to click.  I am so mad because I was sooo excited about it.

Upside (because my mama always taught me to find one Smiley ) I get to go yarn shopping tomorrow!  But now - do I go with the shrug or see what is in BIG GIRL KNITS which comes out today *does yippie dance around living room in pjs*  I have my reserved copy waiting for me at the LBS!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Guidelines for 'creating' a pattern on: March 27, 2006 11:47:00 AM
How do you know if you create a pattern?

What I mean is I am making a purse that is losely based off a purse, I am adding some cables instead of embrodering, making a shorter strap, and adding a different clouser.  So really it will look nothing like the purse I saw, but the construction of the purse will be the same.  The cast on # is different as is the # of rows ect...but I have had this question before when I made a bag and just made it bigger than the pattern...

So when is a pattern yours?  I don't want to sell it - but I would like to, when done post it and not get in trouble for posting someone else's stuff (even though the one I am basing it off of was free too)
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Weekend Bracelets! on: February 28, 2006 11:43:58 AM
I wanted something fun to wear to my nephew's birthday and had a bad week and needed the satisfaction of getting something finished!  These provided both AND the extra satisfaction of 'writing' my first patterns!  I can't believe I did these - from mind, to paper, to wrist.  I love my new hobby!

This is my first attempt at cableing.  Not bad and it isn't as hard as it seems!  I got tons of compliments and it feels so good!

This yarn was so great to work with - it is so soft!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first bag... on: February 15, 2006 01:05:15 PM

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Shrug to fit... on: February 09, 2006 01:17:19 PM
ANyone have a pattern for a shrug you make to fit?

I saw one where you enter your measurements on The AntiCraft but it seems to be dysfunctional (karma maybe  Wink)

I love Swamp Witch from that site too so I hope it comes back soon, but I wanted to get started and I am a big girl so normal size shrugs don't fit.

Thanks!
